meditation and stuff boring? Well smash a geode! Ok do a little more than that, smash a geode and then put it back together! It is so fun! (ok I have no life) And a neat meditation. Just dont loose any peices, cause you cant order replacements. I did two last night (that I smashed earlier), just out of pure curiosoty to see if i could do it. I did! I put it back together and then took it apart again. With my little friend elmer I have four cool new rocks! Ok the meditation part, that is concentrating on putting it back together, if you smashed it good there should be alot of peices that might not fit emediatly into place, just try to work it and dont glue anything! (I really need a life)

I'm confused here...why do you want to smash your geode? :(

To put it back together of course... wonderful meditations can be done with this, you have to use your creativity but it can be used for tons of things.

I see...it's something to focus your concentration on as you're meditating?

yupe, and adds some new insight that you might not come up with while you are meditating without it. If I only smashed em earlier...

Where do you get these things?

rock shows sometimes at occult stores, rock shops, any were you can get a good quartz there should be the occasional geode. They are slow sellers though so they might not carry them all the time. try your local dealers, they should have a few.

But, won't that be just a one-time use? Or do you glue & smash the same one over & over again?

Yeah, we call them thunder eggs. They look just like normal rocks, but when you break them apart the inside is beautiful and sparkly.

I'll try that sometime.

It's a one time deal, so you really shouldnt do this like all the time, it is fun but it is also wasteful, I am using the two i smashed and put back together for stuff now though so you might want to consider using them afterwards for something. I guess you could if you were really bored, clean them up remove the glue and do it again after some time has passed. But as I said I am using them for stuff, so they are not going to be taken apart.

Try cutting them in half with a rock saw or abrasive cutoff wheel.
That way you can enjoy the beauty of the geode as it was created.

I have a bunch of geodes hanging around my house (already smashed), but I have no idea how they got that way.. I'm pretty sure if they had been whacked with a hammer they'd be in a million little pieces, right? Although I'm sure we broke them open with a hammer... But the ones I have are pretty evenly smashed, as if they were done with a saw..
Bleh, anyways, I have to try this for myself...

Hammer + something breakable = lots of fun! :T

Not all valuable things are breakable. ;) But most things breakable have some value.
