Hey! I'd like to know because I knew I wanted my level one and I don't seem to use it that much. I dunno why but I only think of it unless I have like a toothache and sometimes my husband lets me work on him but he really doesn't believe in it but I can feel it. Its wierd but sometimes when I'm on MW I can feel it flowing when I'm reading messages.
My other problem is I know it deals with emotions and emotional issues. Seeing that I'm Bi-polar, even though it hasn't been as bad as it has been in the past, I'm afraid of how it will affect me. I've worked through some of my issues that were also blocking my chakras and gotten past alot but I'm afraid this may awaken things that I may not want to or be ready to face yet. I'd really like some input please.

In the old days, in Japan, many of the people who had been attuned to Reiki worked closely (some only fairly closely) with their Reiki master, and the master decided when he felt they were ready for another step. In recent years in the West, so many lineages and "styles" of Reiki have developed that it seems to be the case that the many different teachers judge your "readiness" in different ways. (Probably some figure just that you are ready when you're ready to pay for the next lessons and attunement! LOL).
You might like to log onto a strictly Reiki-focused discussion group and get some feedback about the bipolar situation. For instance, if you have a news reader, you could log onto alt.healing.reiki
But I would expect you will get some other discussion here on this MysticWicks forum.
You may also want to see if your original Reiki master will discuss the situation with you,
In terms of my own experience, I had a very powerful Reiki attunement that, itself, drained away a lot of emotinal stuff for me - it was painless, did not result in any turmoil, and I recognized a lot of my old conflict and misery by its absence (and not because it rose up and bothered me again)!
Previously I had had recurrent depression and would be haunted by old frustrations, resentment, etc.
I hope this helps, but I also hope others here will jump in.

I haven't been able to get with my "master", he prefers teacher, lately. Over the past year or 2 when I've thought about it he seems even more unreachable so I think its the universe telling me to get on MW and ask around and maybe before I wasn't really ready.
Thanks for sharing and I hope others can join in as well.

First thing, is you need to be past your healing crisis stage from your first attunement, because you don't want that double whammy if you can help it. But it sounds like you've been a L1 for some time.
Don't be surprised if you feel Reiki "come on" in odd situations. It's needed at the time, though you may never know why. I've felt it in everything when I'm cooking, to painting or typing in IM. In the latter I'll usually ask the person I'm talking to if they're all right and the answer is a variation of "how did you know?" :) Nowadays it never seems to shut off for me, only wax and wane.
And yes L2 activates the emotional bodies, but it's more of a purging of old stuff than a crisis per say. You won't get handed anything you're not ready for - Reiki is gentle like that - but that doesn't mean what you think as "enough" is the same as the Universe's definition!
When I went through my L2 , it wasn't very crisis-like. I had waves of anger rise up, but they were mild enough that I could function. I found out through meditating on them, that they were related to old childhood feelings that I'd not fully resolved. It was very mild in action, and felt at times like I was wrapped in a blanket that shielded me from some of the more extreme emotions.

hi,
I when I do attunements I work with the student to decide if they are ready for the next step rather than just telling them. I always want their input about if they feel their body has fully adjusted to the last attunement, if they have been practicing so they know how to get the energy going by pure willpower, if they even feel ready for the next step, etc. In your case you mentioned being bi-polar and, yes, the level 2 attunement works with mental and emotional issues so if you do have thoughts and feelings buried deep inside then some of these are likely to come to the surface during or after the attunement. So either you could work more on issues before the attunement or you can deal with them as they possibily come up.

I've learned that lesson well already :D Thanks for sharing your experiences! I think I need to practice a bit more on myself before my next attunement.

Thanks for the feedback! I read in one seminar they did all three attunements in one weekend, with consent only and only a few people left before they got all three. I know I wouldn't be able to handle that and I'm glad I was never in that type of situation because I know I would feel a bit of pressure to get all three.

I have worked through some of my issues and done some the hard way and it wasn't pleasent but quick and better afterwards. I guess that was what I was hesitant about but if I have the level2 attunement I'd also be able to heal myself better.
Thanks everyone for your replies, they have been very helpful! I think I'm going to do Reiki on myself more often now and when I see my teacher, on the next new moon or the one after, I'll get my level 2 attunement. Thank you all!

You've gotten great responses, but I wanted to add a quick note.
Think of Reiki, it's purpose and intent. All loving, never jeapardizing, warm, healing without question.
Now, consider your reluctance to eventually deal with some issues that keep you weighed down, and unhappy... It's fear, it's heavy, it keeps you from moving forward to things you can't even anticipate!
I think it's worth it... Reiki will never put you through something you cannot handle.
Love and Light.
(Oh, and I'd say you're ready to move forward when you feel you have comfortably transitioned to your Reiki attunement. But don't feel like you must move on, many have one attunement and feel it is plenty for them. But I'd say give yourself some more time before you move forward. Up to 3 months.)
