Meditation to know the friendly spirits around me

This evening I decided to meditate to know about friendly (harmless) spirits that are / may be around me. After a small prayer and a protection ritual, I sat down in a meditation and waited for some information to appear before my mind's eye. Or even some signals such as a gush of wind or chills in any part of the body.

The first one to appear in my mind's eye was my spirit guide, a horned owl. Then he went on to describe how he is around when I am doing readings. After that I waited to know of other spirits around me. Then I saw a young man with dark hair and a black coat. He had a handkerchief wrapped around his face so that only his eyes and forehead were visible.

A name Simon occured to me. Simon was seen arranging papers in my work area and also helping me in the kitchen. I wish to explore this further in my meditations. I shall post the updates. Simon looked quite unhappy about some math problems at school and also about his appearance. But he seemed like a helpful person. None of the images showed him trying to talk to me. He was just arranging stuff around me.

During this time, I felt a chill in a small spot near my leg that was touching the meditation mat. The mat was quite warm, but this small spot felt ice cold.

Any thoughts from folks who are well-versed in spirit communication? :sunny:

I would be guessing that the chill you felt was Simon communicating with you. Perhaps his face was deformed during his life and that is why he had his face covered. I would say meditate on it some more as long as you feel comfortable.

Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job without our help. Very interesting experiences. I do have a minor suggestion though. Maybe you should obtain an owl figurine (could be a cheap one, I know I am lol) cleans it and dedicate it to your totem spirit. You could leave it on the table that you give readings on so you can know that he is there. Perhaps you should light a candle for Simon and pray for him if he seems so unhappy. Please post the updates. I love stories like this.

The last 2 times I have spend the night in a new places (including my new apartment) I have "dreamt" of these spirits- children. Sometimes they seem to try to communicate with me, but usually are sitting near-by staring at me. I've asked for protection from them if they are trying to hurt me, and since didn't see them. I don't know what/who they are....

Thanks folks for your replies. :) I should add that I have known my spirit guide, the horned owl (Cynthian) for a long time. So I was not surprised when he appeared first of all in the meditation. That's why I waited to see if there were others around.

I believe I can communicate telepathically with the spirit world, and I do keep seeing haze and colors all around me, but I guess I should learn to accept it.

The thing is, when I do readings, I get instant validation from the person for whom I am reading, but when it comes to matters such as this, where I cannot talk / exchange notes with others, my suspicious self kicks in. The biggest hurdle for me is to look for validation.

Sage Rainsong, thanks for the suggestion. I have been thinking of doing something nice for my good old spirit guide Cynthian for quite some time now. Getting an owl figurine makes perfect sense.

Trying to converse with Simon even outside of meditation is what I have already started. :) Since morning, I have felt a slight breeze and chill everytime I have turned my attention towards Simon.

The reason why this guy may be around is possibly the similar life experiences we share. I have always gone more by what feels right and am not really an analytical person.

Throughout school, I had problems grasping the stone cold reality of working with math problems. I did well, actually very well, in studies. But it was not something that came easily to me. Also, during my early 20's I was plagued with pimples and acne and that caused me severe stress. Now I have overcome it and my skin is smooth like a boiled egg. But the point is, these are the two things we have in common. I am in my late 20's now, but this guy seems to be somewhere in his early 20's.

Last night I had a very vivid dream about an old housekeeper who passed on last year, perhaps around this time of the year. She had been a great companion to my mom although she was much older than my mom. She was like a grandmom to us. Her sudden encounter with illness and then crossing over left my family sorrowful for a long time. My mom always felt that the lady was taken away from us in an untimely manner.

Last night, in the dream, the lady told me how it was time for her to move on. I was weeping and asking her to take me along with her, but she told me I would go later on. Her son was also seen, sorrowful. I woke up at 3:30 or so in the morning from the weeping in the dream. Since I have accepted and opened myself to spirit communication, I feel like I will be meeting many more dear ones from the Spirit.

This morning, while performing my Reiki pyramid protection ritual, my arms (between the elbows and shoulders) went ice cold. I felt like it was our housekeeper calling out to me.

I shall be lighting a candle this evening for her. I have been contacted in my dreams by deceased relatives earlier, but this was especially strong.

I can still feel shiver throughout my body. I wonder what it is.

Well, I am definitly watching this thread with great interest. I still have yet to find my spirit guide. I have several meditations and rituals for different ways to find one wrote down, I just cant- for some reason concetrate enough or hard enough to finish them without stopping. I keep getting this "feeling" that I need to be doing the ritual in the forest, like...a pine forest for some reason.. (Any thoughts?) But, what you are doing Moonshine, is something that after I get into touch with my spirit guide, I would like to do. I have saw several spirits roaming my house, as if it were just - home to them...we have one in the basement that never fails to frighten everyone upstairs by banging on pipes, the floor boards - etc....screaming, its always -cold when he is around. (AGAIN, Any thoughts! lol) Well, I wish you the best trying to communicate with the spirits, I am sure with a strong mindset which you have you will be capable of doing so well enough!

WOW! Moonshine, I always love hearing your experiences. When I COULD meditate I had very unique encounters, too! But since it has been 10 months for a real meditation...boy do I miss that.

Always trust Your instincts even if there is no one to give you validation there.I follow my instincts and they are 99% dead on. This was something I learned after many years of making wrong decisions and some deep self reflection. Because I did not trust my instincts I made some wrong decisions and have paid dearly for them.From what you have posted it appears you have a great deal of natural ability to communicate with the spirit world! :hugz: Keep up the good work!

This Saturday, I met with frustrating delays while performing a long email reading. It was good 2 hours (unusual) before I could give it a logical conclusion and send it off. As I sat there, wondering and worring how on earth was I going to complete the pending readings with just 2 days of the weekend (I work on weekdays), I felt my left hand (below the wrist) growing warm, as though someone was touching it and trying to get my attention. My hand is growing warm as I write this entry. My left hand warming up is not a new experience for me, but the timing sure makes me think. At this time, the warmth has ceased and replaced with a gentle breeze just around me hand as I type these words. Warmth, cold, warmth, cold. ;) Is this Simon, is this the housekeeper, or someone else? My attention gets drawn to number 18 written on the nearby wall..
