Mobiles!

I want to make a mobile. :reindeer:

Problem is, all the bits hanging from it will be different weights, so I can't have a regular spinning mobile made of coat hangers and string type stuff, you know? Else it will hang lop-sided.

So I'm trying to figure out a way to make it:
a) hang evenly
b) look pretty
c) still spin around

and I'm coming up blank. I thought of using wooden dowel, but that's a bit garish and clumpy, you know? So I thought I'd ask everyone here if they have any ideas :weirdsmil

maybe instead of a wooden dowel, use a piece of bamboo? i'm not sure what look you are going for, or even how you plan on constructing this, so i'm not of much help, but i know bamboo is very lightweight so it wouldn't be very heavy...

You could cover the dowel with a kind of cloth that you like the pattern of--suck as chinese silk or something. Or paint it.

Also, heavy cardboard similarly dealt with would make a good base depending on how heavy the rest of the mobile was.
