I think that I would prefer to go with the old Monty Python line -
"Not so much an after-life, more a sort of apres-vie".
(Maybe you just had to be there)
Seriously though, I would go with my own, particularly twisted and bizzare take on reincarnation.

I think Heaven may be different for the person. You may go to summerland or land of apples. If you are christian, you are with the Lord in biblical heaven.
I feel bad people go to Hell, but everyone has a chance to change, even on their last breath of life.
I feel reincarnation may be possilbe if the person chooses it or its their religoin, like hindu.
You may reincarnated though to another person who becomes christian who goes to heaven.
Its also possible you are in heaven or summerland for a while then put back if you have a specific purpose.
I feel there is definately an afterlife though, that is for sure.
Perhaps I will go to Hell or Purgatory for being a Christian with interest in paganism and wicca. But, I don't live my life to avoid Hell and go to Heaven. I don't go to church for that, nor will I not explore these paths to avoid Hell either. I am still reserved on getting a statue or antyhing of another deity besides the Lord and Jesus, but I am reserved with saints too.

I believe in a heaven/resting place, and reincarnation. Most people will reincarnate. A few will go to heaven to rest(it's not necessarly the Christian heaven but you can meet many gods, and historical figures there:)). But that's after they've learned all their lessons.

I'm comfortably undecided and wouldn't mind staying that way. I'm even open to the possibility that there is no afterlife. Canaanite paganism has no definitive belief about it, just some tantilizing hints so beliefs among followers vary widely.

I have no clue. In regressions I have recalled previous lives. I am not sure if they were previous lives or if it is something else deep in me. I think maybe reincarnation, maybe it's just death and blackness and no consciousness. I hate to think that, but I guess I won't know until it is time for me to know. To make myself feel better about death, I hope that we are reincarnated.

I definitely believe in reincarnation. I believe that 'heaven' is a resting place between lives...some of us stay there longer than others...but I don't believe in a 'hell.' I believe we just keep coming back until we learn all the lessons we need to learn....and we have LOTS to learn. :)

I put down other, because in a way i believe in heaven, reincarnation and i suppose to an extent "hell" but maybe not as it is defined in the bible etc etc etc,
i believe that we are all spirits on a journey, to go back to the "source, eg "god" or as i like to say that big energy source in the sky, (not the sun) lol i dont believe that earth is the final place that we come before going back to that big energy source thing, basicly because on earth there is too much negativity and you cant learn everything you need to in a physical body, that why i think that when we de, our spirit begins a new life as a spirit, working to gain a higher vibration to join up with its soul group, then when that becomes a collective, the soul group will work to gain energy and join up with its monad, and then from there the monads join up with "god" as it were, a sort of eternal state of euphoria when you get to that stage, and you know everything, hey if you wanted you could even go again i suppose,
i dunno though i just keep feeling that there is some other even bigger picture then what we see as finality in god,
but hey we'll see when we get there lol.

I'm not sure what to call my theory, you may call it reincarnation or you may call it something else entirely.
My theory is that when "we die",it is signifing a physical death not a soulful or spirtual death. When "we die" our body dies and our soul or spirit goes to a "heaven or a resting place" and waits for another body to be created for our soul or spirit. When that body is created our soul or spirit is sent into that body and we live through that body until it "dies". I think that is why in theory most of us have reoccurance of past lives.
In theory this sort of "reincarnation" is neverending.
What do you all think of this theory? Please be honest,do not hold anything back. Like I said it is just a theory not fact.
Brightest Blessings to all,

I know the body is composed of energy. That energy has to go somewhere. I suspect that conciousness is something more than neurons firing. That conciousness likely goes somewhere. The wheres? I don't know.
I hope that the afterlife is an otherworld that I can freely travel as we can this one. I hope I can enjoy the company of Gods that I have honored along the way. I would like to think that reincarnation is real and an option for those that choose. There should be many more options aside from that. That's the moral of my tale. Choice in life should be reflected with choice in the afterlife.
I don't buy into the universe being inherently good or evil, thus I don't believe in any heaven or hell per se. Just lands to be explored in otherworlds that may exist just a second or two in front or behind us, or perhaps not at all. If the body dies and the lights go out for good, how would we know anyway?

So what do you think happens after you die?
I think that is entirely dictated by the indivigual, whether he wants to be reincarnated, sent to an afterlife, etc. It is based upon the Gods one worships nire than anything else.

these questions have been asked since the dawn of man
and yet what lyes beyond is still a mystery, its hard to say there are so many ideas floating around out there whos to say whats write and wrong. defonitly not us"humans beings" one thing is for sure though, we will all die eventuly and there is nothing we can do but except it, and live all of our lives to the fullest

I just started a similar thread in just pagan. in my belief. i dobelieve reincarnation is a choice, but I don't believe that you have to keep coming back over and over (shudder). i don't believe in Hell. i believe that karma catches up with you perhaps you have to relive a life suffering the way you made others suffer? i believe in heaven/summer land. i think it's where everyone's spirit goes after you die. from there you can look back over your life and see where you did good/bad where you should have gone. I think that you learn alot there. a place to learn and to reconnect with others.

I believe there is a place called Summerland. This is the resting spot for your spirit...when it goes back to being whole. It is also a time when the spirit picks to be brought back into the earth realm or stay and rest.

I don't really know what happens when we die, whether we are reincarnated or go somewhere nice or merge with the divine.
The only thing I do know is that the gods and/or the divine expended a lot of effort on this world to make it beautiful and a place that we could enjoy. It seems that if they did that, why would they not take care of us in the next one? I trust my gods.

I think there are many answers to this as their are pagans... I personally find the 'Summerland' idea appealing, where you can 'rest' after this life and prepare yourself for the next ... and yeah, I do think that there is one, maybe not straight away, maybe not for years, even centuries, but that eventually you will... and eventually you'll be reunited with your soulmate in your last life ....

So far as I know I'll end up in Tir Tairngire for a time. Then of course their are choices to make a person can choose reincarnation or there are always other realms of the otherworld to explore. Of course there is the third choice of not going on at all after you die here on earth. What sounds the most inviting to me is to explore the other, other worlds for a while and once I've done what I need to or I simply I tire of it I figure I'll end up back here.

I believe in Heaven, and that I and those who follow Christ in principle (not necessarily conciously or knowingly) are destined to go there, and that it's possible that no one religion explains Heaven very well (even Christians haven't got a clue as to the Christian idea of it). I also believe in the possibility of reincarnation, and don't know what to think for sure when someone tells me about their past lives. I'm not about to call that person a liar, but I'm not going to take it as Gospel truth, either. Besides, I've heard that reincarnation was something the ancient Jews believe in, but that's just what I've heard. As for Hell, I think that is the eternal seperation from the Divine reserved for people who truly seperate themselves form Godde and others so much that it can't be justified having that person in Heaven, like mass murderers for example. I don't think it takes someone using their flawed mind to comprehend the Christ in their spirit in order to recieve the saving grace the man (with Divine Authority), Jesus, offered us.
Oh, and I don't take the Bible literally, before anyone asks.

I'm fine with just admitting that I don't know. Some people may have insight on the issue, but I'm not one of them, so I feel really uncomfortable about just choosing to believe something.

I've stayed out of this but the way I am feeling maybe the next stage wouldn't be bad.
I had dream many years ago where I died and went on to the other side. This dream was so vivid that I tried to figure it out before I recognised it for what it was; what wil happen when I die. I had the chance to discuss this with a psychologist and was told that she had heard of others who had similar expirences. I will not say that this will happen to everyone but I know it will happen to me.

I'm not sure if I believe in a spiritual afterlife or not or what form I think that will take. The only thing I know for sure is that my remains will rot and disperse throughout the natural world and that's really sacred enough for me. My loved ones who have died certainly live on through me and other fmaily members and the stories we tell of them.

this is what i think...
i believe in reincarnation... but... when you die you reconnect with your "whole soul" (basically the other bit of you that is your gardian angel/guide) and you PLAN your next life and the lessons you will learn, like writing a script, obviously there will be a little bit of (er whats that word... um... stupid brain!) Improviseation!!! and you can get reincarnated as anything at any time and anywhere... after you have learned all the lessons you become godlike (jesus, budda, mohamid, or any "gods" that have been seen as human by humans)...
to answer starspiral the human population is growing BUT other species numbers are falling and if you believe reincarnation covers universes then well... noone knows how the population of other lifeforms is rising or falling...

Good discordians of the Church of Eris go to the "Afterlife Party" to hang out with Eris(who knows how to throw great parties) and enjoy a nice rest from living.
In the Afterlife Party,we let go off all the mortal b.s. and baggage we had when we were alive. We stay and enjoy ourselves and party until we get bored,or, until you spill wine on Eris' new white carpet(ohh, major party foul),or go through the wrong door looking for the bathroom and then reincarnation.
Bad discordians get sent to the Region of Thud (imagine an infinite region of suburban track houses, all of them looking the same, everyone looking the same, everything drab, grey and very boring) where they are transformed to either Precious Mao Buttons(POEE) or Hello Kitty Stickers(Church of Eris) and distributed to the poor there.
Really Bad Discordians that go Greyface(one of the worse things a discordian can become;someone who takes thing way to seriously.Major sin in our path) go to the Christian Heaven.

The movie "What Dreams May Come" pretty much shows what I believe happens when we die. But like many other Kemetics, I believe that my ka and my ba go to different places. The being in whose body I reside will go where it is supposed to go (Amenti, The Beautiful West... which is part of the Duat), and I the spirit within this body will go to a place much like what is in the movie I just mentioned.

Norse afterlife... nine worlds/yggdrasil, all that stuff...
I find it hard to believe that there's a perfect paradise kind of afterlife. I don't believe that anything is perfect. Not even gods. When I think about each of the worlds I think of them as being bold and dynamic, some beautiful and others rugged. Nothing is pure good or pure evil. After death one can see them all and continue the search for wisdom

Well my beliefs are kind of baised, since I was declared dead once this lifetime already. I remember where I went and what I saw.
I believe that we leave the physical behind, and than we spend time reviewing what happened in that life, what we could have done differently, what we would change. That this phyiscal world is like our school for learning. That the other world is not concerned with materal, or even many emotions, that after a time there we forget why people do things, so we return to learn again. I know I have walked in other lives before this one , and probably will again. I believe it is all based on our love of learning, understanding, compasion, etc.
lady bless,
clouds
as to heaven, I beleive that it is seen differently by the person depending apon their beliefs, that in truth all are one and that we just dont know it. Like it is split into sections for christians, jews, hindu, etc. As to hell, well I think that is a duality. I concerned the mirror of true self to be a hell in and of itself. Imaging being trapped staring into this mirror as you relive everything you have done in this life as the other person. Until you reconginze what you did wrong and feel sorrow for the pain you caused another. ugh.

Well, here's what I posted on another site. It's a bit long, but not horibbly long.
"I was reading some articles on Witchvox.com when I started thinking about past lives, the afterlife, reincarnation, etc. I was wondering, what happens when we die? Before I go on with what I think, I want to say that my thougts her eare subject to change. I can never be positive on what happens because I havn't died in this life yet! http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif
Anways, I reading an article made me realize I had some idea of what happens: I think that we keep getting returned to earth until we've learned all we need or fulfilled some important task. If we have multiple tasks, we keep getting sent back until we have no more things we have to do. At this time, we're brought to the prefect Summerlands, a place we may have seen or stayed before going to our next life. Then we are given a decision: Stay here in the epitome of perfection, or go back for another life. Wait here for the rest of eternity (or until we're needed again, if that happens), or go back to live among the other humans again until we die again.
I also think that when we're at the Summerlands or in between lives, we either fully remember or partly remember all of our past lives. If not fully then, we do fully remember when we finally decide to stay in the Summerlands forever.
I don't think there really is a "heaven" or "hell," but part of me believes those who are bad in one life, are given more chances but just get worse might go to somewhere like a hell. No, not a place with a "devil" and torture, but a place like earth where everything is not perfect. Where people still do bad, etc. If that's so, maybe those there, if they finally see the light and change for the better, can be put into another life on Earth and, if they do good, can go to the Summerlands.
These are just my thoughts, which, like I said, could change, but they seem real to me. But still, I want to know other people's thoughts. So what do you think? Be as brief or in-depth as you wish, but I'd be glad to read what you post. Thanks for reading!"

i believe in reincarnation. i believe we are reincarnated within our family. i believe that we have the choice as to whether we stay in our afterlife or whether we are reincarnated. i believe that whilst we are in our afterlife, we can watch over our loved ones, the ones who we are no longer with. i believe that we also will have knowledge of our past lives .
i do believe that there are a few people we come into contact with that we have known in previous lives.

I believe we go to a spiritual realm. Many call it heaven or the summerlands. Whatever you prefer. There we review our life and see where we went wrong or what we did right. We prepare and watch over our family. Basically taking it easy for awhile till the time is right for us to be reborn. We do this to learn and experience life.
