A Spider man comics issue, about the Sept 11th Attacks? Is this totally innappropriate, or is it just me?

Hmmm, I say good idea. As long as they do it in good taste, i.e. handle it gracefully and appropriately.

Obviously someone wanted the issue to be faced, being as the copies snapped up so quickly. I don't see a problem with it. The comic doesn't disrespect the people who died or the real superheroes involved.

its in our history, to not talk about or acknowledge would be
silly.
A lot of the comics take place in New York and they have to decide
on how to write in the WTC attack into their scripts.
They put the spider man movie on hold to reshoot around, because of the WTC! I saw the preview awhile back and thought
how earl a preview it was then it showed the WTC with a
helicopter caught in his web spun between the two towers.
Maybe the movie is on hold to let people get used to the new
status of New York.

From what I read and understood from the article. It started out as a good idea. Then Marvel decided to charge $7.00 for the issue and that made it opportunistic. I don't think it was wrong for Marvel to want to publish a story about the attacks and how the comic superhero world would deal with such a thing. I think it's wrong they doubled their issue price for such a story.
And Flar, Eshallet heard that the Spiderman movie was put on hold because of the attacks. Who knows when it's going to be released now.

I read the article.. i'm actually intrigued to read the comic now *smiles*.
I don't see it as inappropriate. Comic book lovers, being one myself, are like any other collecter. They like to see the real world embedded in the fantasy. It helps them feel less alone in a way, connected through their passion to the events of the world. I think this will help these comic lovers who purchased it.. grieve, ponder, and come to a greater understanding.
It obviously wasn't written as a satyr. It was written with good, and sad, intent.
Even Marvel stated he is sad that it took writing such a comic about such sad events to get the covers to fly off the shelf. Everyone is happy when they make money, not always thrilled with the means. That seems to be the case here.

I read the issue. It was very powerful and well-handled. I think the most evocative panel, for me, was the one showing the reactions of the villains, as Dr. Doom, one of the most evil characters in the Marvel universe, stood crying. Also the part where Spiderman is looking at Captain America and wondering how he finds the strength to deal with it ... again. And the look on Cap's face says that he's wondering the same thing. (Captain America remembers Pearl Harbor.)

I think it depends on how it was handled..
I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I'm sure the people that did lose loved ones in the Sept. 11 attack would be pretty ticked off.....

I am intrigued to get this comic. I think there's nothing wrong with it. . . in fact, it's probably one way to help yourself cope.

Well, I bought the comic last night. AND I had to pay $7 bucks for it, but I don't think that was marvel, cause where I bought the comic, the owner is an opportunistic SOB. That's a fact, not just opinion, BTW.
Anyhoo, I read through it right away. I enjoyed it. I don't read comics all that much anymore, but Eshallet does and he even enjoyed it. The hole thing was wonderful, I think. I like how in the panels that show the rescue workers, the super heros are mixed in as well. I enjoyed it very much and in a smal way, comforted me just a tiny bit.
