Just wondering...How you are geting enough of your blood so to write letters or words ? And what are you using as a writing tool ?Do you use needle (say to write on the stone) ?
I did my first spell with blood and even though I had to write only few letters I wasnt able to finish my spell because of the lack of my blood .... I just couldnt to keep picking my finger 3 times with needle in order to writte one letter ....

Well I wouldn't write with blood unless it was a VERY important spell and had to be VERY bound to myself. I don't think I could bleed myself enough to write with it, tho I'd write it, say, with special ink or a special pen, then bleed a few drops on it to seal it. Just my thoughts tho.

I wouldn't really ever use my blood for a spell, but if you wanted to write with it then maybe you could mix a drop or two into your ink? That way you don't need to bleed too much. Just an idea. :)

That's a pretty powerful first spell. I've done blood magick using menstration blood but I would recomend being very careful with it. Using blood in magick ties you in very deeply. Sometimes the consequences are not what you expect. A couple of drops of blood in red ink is good. You can consecrate the ink to purify it first.

Just an addition for some of you who might want to have the info.
Did you know there is more water in your body than anything else? One tool that has great effect is to use some of your persipiration in spells or even spit (saliva). Try using that for spells of this nature (mixing it with ink.) Its a lot less harmful to yourself.

That's a good idea Mol.
The practice of spitting in spells still exists. Marquesan sorcerers spit into leaves and bury them while reciting incantations against enemies. Malay sorcerers place spit, blood, urine and excrement on clay effigies, which they roast to curse a victim to death. Necromancers sometimes spit as part of their rituals for conjuring the spirits of the dead. Blah blah.... I 'll quit ramblin'.

1. Put 3 or 9 (the 'best magical #'s) of blood in a bottle of red ink or paint. Use as needed.
2. Rub the paper on your forehead to put your naturally occuring body oil on it (do this before you write, or you'll have a smeared paper, & ink-stained forehead 8O ).
3. Symbolize blood using red ink or paint that you've consecrated.
4. Bite off the end of your index finger, & write with the bleeding stub... OK, OK, it's a bad, bad joke...
MW Disclaimer: If you are a minor, DO NOT bite the end of your (or anyone else's) finger off without the expressed written consent of your parent or adult guardian!

Speaking of diabetic . . . Dorothy Morrison suggest using lancets from diabetic testing kits in order to have a steral (sp?) tool every time you prick yourself. In my state, you have to have a prescription to get them but apparently that's not true everywhere.

I dont get it why is blood all that? I know why blood is considered all that but why do you think it is? Any background in such spells and thingies? Now spittle, that works wonders.

Same reason as spit is. Obviously, bodily fluid, like hair or nail clippings, are used in very strong magick, binding the intent of the spell to the one who owns the blood/whatever.

In Northern magic, it's considered as making a sacrifice to use blood in a working... & what more precious thing can one offer to the powers-that-be than one's own life fluid... the more 'serious' the sacrifice, the more likely those said 'powers' are to grant the desired results... that's the theory, anyway...

I use it not for a deep connection but rather to express my discust and distain for the individual in question. But why would any one use blood or anything from your body for that matter? I dont see a need for it...

I've only used blood for poppets that represent me, although a lock of hair, finger nail clippings, saliva etc...are just as good of a representation of youself. Its not something I do all the time, and i've never written in blood (except for maybe when i was 7 as an oath of secrecy in a clubhouse hehe).

There you have it.
Also, consider what your blood carries and it's significance to your existence and individuality.

I do use blood/fluids occassionally. Bt not to write the spell.. but I would say most of the suggestions pretty good.
Also pricking ones finger with a lancette does bring abit of blood, drip in a small holding thing like ametal bowl and add soem ink or oils....it should last for the writing.
Was the only thing I could think of I merely use my fave pen to write in my journal can not imagine using blood would bleed me dry lol

Blood sure is significant and powerful. If you're gonna use it for something intense and potent that shows you did your part and effort in this life donate blood. Donate blood to the red cross and show them how much of a human you are. Donating blood for a good cause is one of the best sacrifices you could make.

My blood is poison though... and I dont feel too 'human' at the moment... I think I should just dedicate my life to Goddess and service to all of humanity (in the form of a medical profesional), will that work too?

i think. it would be a powerful, and intimate addition too,
a handfast incense.
made by the couple or a close friend.
with just about 2 or 3 drops blood.
i will add that to my bos

For menstrual blood...
When I menstruate, I use the "Keeper", a little rubber cup that you insert sort of like a tampon. (Box 20023, Cincinnati, OH 45220)
It collects about an ounce of menstrual fluid before it needs to be emptied. No pain, lots of "blood" (menstrual fluid).
As for "why blood", I suspect it was originally because of menstrual fluid. Menstrual fluid is deeply connected to life, birth, and creativity. I suspect that menstral fluid was used oringinally. But if you're male, or female but not menstruating, you have to use something else. The most logical something else would be blood. But all of this is just a guess on my part.

That's right, so if the human body is 95% water then mosh pits should be safer than I thought since that is only 5% away from a pool!!!!

maybe just write it out and sign your name in blood or just put a dot of blood at the bottom of the page?

I think if you want the binding effect of blood, the power or whatever else you believe is associated with it, then you need to be willing to step up and deal with bleeding. Personally, I use an exacto knife. The whole point of the blood thing, is that you are willing to go the whole 10 yards and put out to bring about the desired outcome.
Life isn't for wimps. Step up.

As everyone's said, blood is a very, very powerful thing. I would be denying my own beliefs if I said I wrote spells, but I do agree that blood can (and in some situations should) be used when working with something which needs to be tightly bound to you, or needs to have great strength and significance. Dedications, for example. I also like the idea of saliva--much less harm done. However Cheddar also has a good point: often times we have to do things we really don't want to, and this happens to be one of them.
But a word of caution: only use blood if you absolutely HAVE to. Or, at least, that's what I believe. I've only used it once and that was enough.

Human blood is effective in rituals because humans are doing magic and also the blood of a sentient species is valued. In rites I've done menstrual blood is only used for intimate magic with my partner or on my own. Artery blood (especially from cutting a finger) is used in other magic. Some people don't like using blood which is fair enough, as a lot of people are put off by it.

I see the whole point here but I'd use saliva before I'd use blood. And I'm also curious why the original poster would do something so dramatic on a 1st spell.

my coven uses a lancet for blood work as well. Aparently you don't need a perscription for them at least in Delaware! Even then we just did one prick of the finger so that we could set what we had already written with a bit of our dna. I don't think you would need to write long prose with your own blood. I am much more comfortable being pricked by a springloaded lancent than a needle or a knife.
