I'm going all out this Samhain for the first time in a decade+. I haven't done pumpkin carvin' since I was a kid and am curious about what other people do with their pumpkins after the 31st.
I had the idea that I could take them, gently scrape the insides to remove any smoke residue, then cut them up and leave them as offerings to the animals that live in the woods nearby. Having never done this before, I wasn't sure if it's a good idea or not.
What do you think? And what do you do with your pumpkins after Samhain?

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I just wait till they get all soggy and nasty, then toss em.

Giving them to the animals is very good. We toast the seeds for the G'kids and leave the pumkins for the birds with a little seed left for them.

The squirrels and ants usually do them in in our neighborhood.

What I do is compost them!!! In the compost pile and next year....rototilled into the gardens~~:)
The meat along the walls, when we carve them, goes in the freezer. Its food for our rabbit, rats and tortoise over the winter!
Its also food in the dead of winter for wild life!! Take some to the woods and leave it for the critters!!

Yeh punkin recycling  I put them in my compost bin. The seeds get divided up some for the birds and squiggles and the rest for my hungry son and his party mates :D

I make mine into soup if it's not gone bad. I don't like to see bits of pumpkin strewn everywhere after the celebrations as it makes me feel bad so I eat the evidence!

I don't know about where you live, but around here you can take the used pumpkins to the local zoo to feed the animals there. Elephants love um'
