yule traditions

I just wanted to ask everyone what they were planning on doing for Yule, whether it be traditional or not.
I happen to plan on fasting with a friend of mine for Yule, in honor of the god and goddess. I thought it would be a nice difference for once.

First, let me just say I LOVE YOUR AVATAR!!!

Okay, back to the topic. Well, i celebrate both Christmas & Yule. On Yule itself, i don't know what i'm going to do just yet. A small, quiet ritual definitely. But the details i'm sketchy on still.

My Mom's holiday party is on the 15th, so i'm looking forward to that. And on X-mas day, Eshallet, me, my son, and our Mom's are heading off to the local inn for a lunch buffet.

On Solstice Eve we will decorate our tree, have a great feast, exchange handmade gifts and light our Yule log--a oak log with three holes for candles--for the first time this season. I will light it each evening through New Year's. Solstice morning I go outside and watch the sunrise while singing, chanting or reciting an appropriate poem.

I CANNOT WAIT for Yule. ME and a fellow Pagan, Raven, are throwing a yule party for all of our friends. Not only will it be fun to hang, but they'll learn more about Paganism, Yule, etc. I even made my own yule log.......carved in it are the symbol of the god, goddess, and 2 pents. HEHE, can't wait. I'm also baking a yule log. I'm such a spazz! I have such a renewed sense of holiday spirit. Yule is also near the marking of the passing of my grandfather, who was more my father. It's been one year now and I thinik I'm going to do a passing ritual considering there was no funeral or anything because he was in Florida and I'm up here in NY.
We're also having a yule tree and decorating that, too.
