I am not new to the Pagan ways, but I am in the learned aspect of it. I was thrown into it by couple of spirits who i soon realized were my guides . I was a do by the seat of your pants type. It worked pretty well too until physical problems arose. My family history goes pretty far back as intuitiveness goes.
My question is what would be the best type of book to write down your essence in. Keep in mind to that for some of us we are south pawed. Looking for answers anywhere i can find them.

So BE it,

I think there's a couple of threads about BoS if you do a search. I can't remember if it was here in New Pagans or Magick. I'll check.

It seems there were varying types of BoS. Some likes to write it out by hand in a bound journal. Some keep theirs on the computer. Some uses a 3-ring binder.

I like to use a three ring binder. that way it is easer to clean out and rearange. I also use a spiral not book for spur of the moment thing and then tranfer to the 3 ring later if I choose. Hope this helped

I do the same thing! It's great isn't it? I can reorganize it, throw things out and add stuff with the click of the binding. :D

I use a 3 ring binder too...I have 3 actually. One for spells, another for information/correspondances, and another for terms. I have mine all decorated purdy with Pentagrams. It is da !@#$...I love my BoS! Ok..just a tad bit obsessive there...

Thanks y'all,
I thought that the quality of the paper you posess would make a difference in the transference of energy. In working with wood as I do, I came to realize that some peices were meant to be made of one wood and one wood only.

Do you all write spells in the Theban script or just normal. Does it make a difference how you put down spells?

I started out with a 1-inch spiral binder. As time passed it seemed to grow exponentially. Now I have three 3-inch binders--one for Magick, one for mythology and one for the basics. I also have a couple of 1 1/2 inch binders--one for the sabbats and one for arts and crafts. I can see it growing out of control. I do love gathering information though. I'm a bit of a pack-rat. Anyway I like the loose-leaf binders best because you can change and rearrange things easily. Someday I would like to make a special BoS by hand--paper, cover and all--and of course do all the writing in calligraphy. That's a dream. I don't know if I'll ever do it.

I just write mine with my normal illegible handwriting and it never really made a difference to me how I wrote down the spells. It's personal preference I guess.

the style you write is all up to you. what feels right and what is corfortable to you.

Right now I just have my 1 binder, which is getting quite full now.... Although I don't handwrite my stuff out, I type it up then print it out cuz I like to be able to read what I write later on, and my writing does get messy sometimes. 8O

I handwrite and type my BoS. If I'm doing a particular ritual I usually copy it on a piece of notebook paper and read it off of that.
Personal Preference is what makes the difference

I have a 3-ring binder too. I made the cover and all that. I use this really cool parchment paper I got about a year ago. I write all my spells and rituals on it. I use the cardstock paper for the other stuff, or print outs from the computer, I just 3-hole punch the computer print outs. Funny enough, most of them are from MW!!!

Also, when I write the spells, i try to use a different color ink. I did that when I wrote out my rituals too. Like Pink ink for Beltaine, Green for Ostara. Blue for Yule. They maybe not corresponding colors for the Sabbat, i picked them on how I felt about the season.

I know what you mean. I just tried to read an entry in one of my dream jornals and I can't read part of it , and have no idea what I ment to write there. Time to start tranfering a few things to the printer.

Well, I usually can't read my dream diary because I write it when I'm still half asleep :D Then it's kinda like putting a jigsaw puzzle together trying to work out what the dream was from the scribbles and the bits of memories floating around.

My BOS (I think I posted in another BOS thread before, but I don't know where that is now) is partly on my computer, partly in copybooks, and the main bulk of it in a ring binder. I write out the stuff I get off the net, cos my printer is banjaxed, and put it in the binder.
