View Full Version : Explain yourself

Explain yourself!
I'm just curious. What was everybody's inspiration for their screen names?
Mine is taken out from my non-describable feelings towards the rain and the special meaning that rain has for me. The second part is because I fight for my right nomatter what.
Maybe my feelings towards the rain best explains this poem I wrote in August of 2001
[Summer rain]
Do you feel the rain over your head,
It's touch-
So gentle and full of life,
Like a giant waterfall,
Over your mind.
It inspires you,
Inspires into a new dimension of though.
Thoughts which make you taste the power of life,
The life inside and beside you,
Covering your every muscle,
Every inch of your skin,
Making you never feel the same,
The same before the rain.

My name is straight forward.

Then I believe that mine needs no explanation. :)

Oops, I meant that we feel the same way, so explaining my username would be kinda redundant. :)

It's so funny, I've yet to find a properly fitting magickal name
Perhaps i should just call myself "defys description"
I am so many things to SO many people, and to myself, a million sides to me. "the many faceted" perhaps would also be a great one.
But i don't like those, they don't make me "happy" to be me. They seem to summarize me, rather than bring me out and show me off and say "WOOHOO! I AM ME"
Storm Chaser was a momentary, picked out of a hat combo.
Storm being something i love, also my favorite charachter in a certain novel. Chaser, because I'm always seemingly running after, or in search of something i suppose.
But once again, I am not content with this name.
It's a passing phase hehe.

I can't recall precisely how I stumbled upon my name, as it feels like I have been using it for so long.... but I'm sure it would come as no surprise that it is because I love foxgloves! :p Even as a child I found them gorgeous; they remind me of gardens and growing up, and all the dreams I had with me at that time.

hehe so far as I know, I don't really have a "magickal" name. . . I know my "soul name" which you don't say! :) and I am called "Puma" as a nickname by my boyfriend (I feel strongly connected to pumas aka mountain lions aka cougars, and my spirit guide takes the animal form of a Puma). . . so I chose "Puma Hime." "hime" is Japanese for princess, or lady of noble birth. So I am Cougar Lady of Noble Birth ^_~

Guardian Flaire-FireStar was a character in an RPG I used to go to (it's trying to make a come-back!!!!), and the name Flaire is just like a second name to me... :)
Drisel

The online name that I normally use was already taken. I thought for a minute and "Drisel" just popped into my head. I checked it out with numerology and it has the same base number as my full given name. So why not ?:D

I'm new in this(international paganism you could say), so please explain smth about soul name. Why do you not say it loud?
In some older "dainas"- short songs made by ancient Latvians and they are still popular to this day(we have thousands of them[dainas] writtten down) is smth said about soul names, but not a word why do you do not want anybody to know it. Yes you keep it "down" , but if someone finds it out, it's nothing serious. But maybe dainas where that is said have not survived to this day?.

From my understanding a soul name, is kinda like a "cats third name" and a Magickal name is more like a cat's second name.
If you've ever seen Cats you know what I'm talking about.
If not here is the poem\song to which I refer.
There's a man over there with a look of surprise
As much as to say as to say now, well how about that?
Do I actually see with my own very eyes
A man who's not heard of a Jellicle Cat?
What's a Jellicle Cat?
What's a Jellicle Cat?
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter
It isn't just one of your holiday games
You may think at first I'm mad as a hatter
When I tell you a cat must have three different names
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey
All of them are sensible, everyday names
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter
But all of them sensible, everyday names
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular
A name that's peculiar and more dignified
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular?
Or spread out his whiskers or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat
Such as Bombalurina or else Jellylorum
Names that never belong to more than one cat
But above and beyond, there's still one name left over
And that is the name that you never will guess
The name that no human research can discover
But the cat himself knows and will never confess
When you notice a cat in profound meditation
The reason, I tell you, is always the same
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought
Of the thought
Of the thought
Of his name
His ineffable
Effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular
Name, name, name, name, name, name, name
(Fades to the end)
Adam Of Avalon
December 8th, 2001, 07:49 PM
The Isle of Avalon is often compared to the Garden Of Eden. (Rather ironic yet amazing connection, don't you think?) And seeing as how Adam is my name and "The Mists of Avalon" was the impetus for me to delve into Paganistic studies, I felt compelled. So there ya go!
