I am begining to believe that my cat is a little nutty!! He is a year and a half old and he insists on chewing on everything. I would have thought he would have grown out of this by now. It's gotten to the point where the situation is getting dangerous. He chews right through wires and before I use any appliance I have to check it for bite marks and such. Now I have put up my Yule tree and I'm terrified that I might not find the damage to the wires before it's too late!! He's already started to chew on the tree itself!
My question is what can I do to stop my cat from doing this??

Spray The Wires with Soy Sauce and water. Or take a cloth, soak it in soy sauce, and wipe down the wires. That should turn him RIGHT off. Cats "HATE" soy sauce, supposedly.
Also, certain pet suppliers do sell a spray that you can spray around the areas that you want your cat to stay away from. You might try that. For now, try to bundle up, and tie up as many of your wires as possible, to keep them from dangling. It's the dangling that excites cats.

Try Bitter apple spray on cords and tree (most cats hate it, but my cat actually liked it, but he also eats salads).
Or try putting a couple of soda cans with some pennies in them where they will be pulled over if he chews on a cord. The rattling noise will scare him, and (hopefully) he will stop chewing on any cords because he doesn't know which ones will make the noise.
Or try wrapping the cords with aluminum foil.
Or try batting him across the room, or flinging an empty plastic soda bottle at him, whenever you see him chewing on a cord. It won't hurt him, but it might get the point across.

OUr cat likes to chew on the dragon fern. As a way of stopping him we started spraying the plant with citrus oil. It won't harm the plant and the cat now steers clear of it. :)
