Isis Info

Since the very beginning of my path search, I have heard the voice of Isis..... I feel such a connection to her, yet she is hesitant to reveal much to me and I find it hard to feel close to her. Is there any helpful information or experiences you can share with me? Facts, personal experiences, references, etc..... I want so much to have a close relationship with her and I just feel I need some guidance.

Here are a few to get you started, for more look though those search result links I posted above...there's hours and hours of reading there! There is so much to learn about her, such a long history and so many texts, myths and information.

As for getting closer to her I would talk to her. If you have an altar area maybe put a image or statue of her there. Kemetic gods enjoy offerings, perhaps offer her things that she would find pleasing. As long as you sincere about it than there should be no problem. Also, I have read some have experienced Aset in a more distant way, perhaps that is just her...? It might depend of the person, the situations and everything else though. If you feel her there, then she is. Maybe for now don't push the relationship-- take it slow. If you don't all about her, read up on the links and such-- it shows you are commited and willing to learn and grow. Do little things-- light candles, read poems to her or hymns-- or even write your own. That's how I always built the relationship. There isn't really one way or a right way for these things...you just have to find out by trial and error and work :).
All those links have information about her sacred animals, items, places, worship and offerings as well as poems, temple texts, pyramind texts, hymns and such to her. Perhaps there is a clue there :).

I've always loved Aset, I've researched her and learned about her...yet never felt her. I did feel Bast, Wadjet, and Seshet :)

I'm just going to talk from my own experience here. Coming somewhat from the belief that the Goddesses and Gods chose you (not in all cases mind you) that will lead to the desire and experience. Mind you it doesn't happen all at once or instantaneously. Sometimes it takes time. For me it was very long or not too long depending on how you look at it. Technically it took over 30 years, but once I woke up it took only a few months for the relationship to come to fruition. In my case, I had to get over some hurdles that were from outside influence. A long story, suffice it to say my coven elders at the time weren't as sensitive to the Goddesses as they claimed to be and as a result tried to prevent me from working with Isis. How did I do it? I just went against their wishes at every chance and kept dropping her name as I could. (It should be noted that after the coven was in pieces the main teacher and elder called and invited me and one other person out to dinner to talk to us. It was then that she broke down crying and told me how she now realized how she was "stepping in between me and my Goddess whom chose me" and how sorry she was for everything.)

Later after that happened I was told by several other elders from various covens and trads that Isis had always been with me from birth. I can't argue with that, but can't prove it either.
Anyway, Isis normaly likes to work in your dreams or sub-conscious. She usually communicates with people in their dreams, however your mileage may vary. (As in my case).
In my case, since I'm a lousy dream-worker (Can't remember what I had for breakfast let alone my dreams). She started slowly with me kind of the same way you feel you might be experiencing her. Soft whispers, very subtle, not revealing much at all. Then after a time (probably because it takes a ton of bricks to fall on me) and perhaps because of my determination to commune with her she one day decided to reveal herself scaring the daylights out of me.
This is going to sound wild, but all I know is it happened. She actually appeared in broad daylight in my bedroom in front of my CD rack of all places as I was on the phone. I heard my CD's being rustled, looking around and sitting still to be sure it wasn't an earthquake first, I turned to see a shimmering image of what could be no mistake but be Isis kneeling down in front of my CD rack. Interesting to note I did have a pewter image of her hanging right above the rack I saw a necklace she was wearing that had egyptian symbols on it and very jewled. She was also wearing a small Sun Disk. I could just make out some other features but not real clear. (Had I seen them clearly her beauty most likely would have killed me and I'm sure that was not her intent). This went on for about 20 seconds, but it seemed like forever.
Freaked me out! However, after I realized what happened I felt a sudden calm and warm love. That was the first of two close communes with my queen Goddess.
Then there was the unexpected channeling incident at public ritual. This was after the disbanding of the coven. We were doing a ritual for some celebration that I can't recall right now. Anyway during the chanting according to several eyewittnesses (and recipients) I channeled Isis for a while. (Makes sense because the only thing I remember from that night to this day was how sick and exhausted I was afterward. Appearently I had collapsed and had to be nursed a bit so I could be able to drive home).
All I know is that it just happened and was not expected by me or anyone. Several people came up to me and told me what had happened and how they were effected as I touched them. (Didn't know I went around touching people, that's not like me...geez). Everyone said my apperance had even changed somewhat...I wasn't so keen on hearing that bit). It was all good though. All I know is that the next day I felt like I had been run over by an 18-wheeler several times in both directions.
That was ok too though once I accepted what had happened.
Other than those two events she has been very subtle.

However, here is the part you should really know. Isis is incredibly patient! Just look at what she chose to work with...me. :-)
You may also find that there will be some long stretches of time when it seems like she is not around (especially right around the winter equniox). Don't despair, Goddesses and Gods have their seasons and with eveything that is going on right now certain ones are quite busy. However, they will always be around for their children.
Keep working on learning about her as that may be what she wants you to do for now. You may get more later, it's up to her.
I recommend reading all you can about her and meditating. Also certain music works wonders. If you have any egyptain or middle eastern music even just flavored that way that is either instrumental or has female vocals I suggest playing that from time to time. Isis loves music and dance...absolutely loves it!
Keep calling to her and try to notice if you sense her presence when you play music and make a note of what seems to draw her. (I did this and to this day it is effective). Draw on your intuition too when your meditating or praying.
If you can go out and find some images of her, statues, drawings, paintings, etc. Look on the web or what have you. Place these things around the house or just get something for your altar, whatever you want to do. (Hint: She also likes feathers). I have several statues of her all over the place, but that's just me, I'm a freak. :-)
As I said your mileage may vary, but keep going.
