Hey all! Does anyone know somewhere that I can order "hippy clothes" (thats the closest way I can think to describe it) on the web from??? I'm talking about cheesecloth tops, sari material kinda things, you know what I'm on about (or at least I hope you do). Thats more my style, but there is no where around here that sells it.

OH MY God.....
That's funny. I live in CT and used to go to Old Glory all the time when I was in high school. That just brought back memories. I now have to email my brother that link! ;)

LOL! my favorite is the "world problem" the drug humor in it is hysterical. The first time I read it I was at work. Me and the lab tech at the time laughed so hard we started to cry.
My other fave shirt is: Can't sleep clowns will eat me...can't sleep clowns will eat me....
:lol: :lol:

I'm getting a Sgt. Pepper's shirt, a germlins shirt, a ghostbusters shirt, a ministry of silly walks one, and a I love Lucy shirt, all from "Old Glory" my buddy has the "I have a drug problem..." one. I worked that out once (I was really bored). He got me the "Nobody knows I'm a lesbian" one. That wouldn't be so bad if every time I wore it women didn't try to flirt with me. It's kinda weird going "you know, I'm not really a lesbian..." I still wear it because it's fun tho. 8O

What about making your own? I remember making those jean skirts where you open the inside seams & sew in a piece of material. You can get great old jeans & other old pants in thrift shops. Also, it's a great place to get neat fabrics for making your own funky clothes.

Because I'm terrible at it!!!! I've tried making my own little things, and everyone smiles plesantly [spelling?!?] at me!

but the website is no more!:( Fortunately, I am really anal, so I printed it out in January (that is actually what the paper says... mind you I havent even made this skirt yet!! lol)
I actually got this from a website that posted old issues of Sassy Magazine (remember Sassy? sniff... the good old days!) Hope this is helpful!!!
** smart alecky comments made by the writers at sassy not me! :D
TO MAKE A DENIM MAXI SKIRT:
You need-
* a pair of jeans that fit well (not too baggy and not too peg-legged)
* a seam ripper (which can be purchased at any fabric store.)
* straight pins
* a strong needle (or sewing machine.;) )
* thread
* at least, a yard of heavy fabric. ( When I -finally- get around to doing this, I will most likely use another pair of jeans. They suggest you use a jean leg for that.) Just steer clear of chiffon or anything too flimsy, or you could end up with instant air conditioning as you stride along.**
Take your seam ripper and carefully slit the entire inner seam of the jeans from inside on ankle all the way up and down the other leg. Put them on. (Ooh breezy.)** Pin the crotch seams together into a three-to four-inch front seam, overlapping the two sections so the material fits snugly across your hips. Then take the jeans off and lay them down on the floor facing you. Spread the unsewn front V open to however wide you want the bottom of the skirt to be. Place the fabric under the jeans so it peeks out of the V and pin it into place all around. Carefully turn the jeans inside out and cut the fabric into a triangle, leaving enough excess (an inch is good) all around so you can stitch the fabric to the jeans and hem the bottom of the insert. Now stitch the insert into place. Put the jeans back on and have a bud or Mom pin the legs together down the back to about your knees, leaving a slit at the bottom so you can walk unmummified. Take the skirt off and sew up what you've just pinned. That's it.

Psst! The great thing about making your own hippy clothes is that it doesn't have to be perfect! :D If it didn't turn out quite the way you wanted it to, just tell people that's the way it's supposed to be. It's part of the design. What do they know? :)
