Are they the same goddess in 2 different forms or 2 goddesses?
I was looking for infomation on Sekhmet and in the story it was talking about Hathor. Something about Ra set Hator to earth and she changed into Sekhmet. It was so vague and now I am confused. If anyone has or can find the lengend about them please post it.
Thank you
Kate

The short answer is "yes." :)
This link (http://www.hethert.org/eye.htm) gives the slightly longer version of the answer you're seeking.

So if I wanted to I could use Hathor or Sekhmet depending on my purpose.

Hrm..... before you go "using" either one of Them (it's extremely rude to "use" a goddess... you "ask for Her help"... and you do so very politely or She'll make life exquisitely miserable for you), you might want to do a bit more research on both of Them.

Well I didn't mean "use" its just faster to type then ask for help. but ask was what I meant

**grins** Just making sure. One can never tell around this place. Sometimes, people have been known to ask things like "Is it okay to use Sekhmet and the Morrigan and fairies in a spell to make this cute guy in my class like me?" That's a good way to get squished by a very heavy lioness paw. Or at least a good way to conjure an unwanted ifrit. (Which falls in the Very Bad Things category.)

I don't approve of 'using' any Egyptian Goddess especially one so powerful as Sekhmet.

I don't approve of using any deity period. it's my personal belief that a little humility goes a long way with the Gods.
