Don't wish to be rude, Obie, but can I just check she's happy for her chart to be done "in public"? It's just that it's a very intense chart and I don't want to start posting comments about it here without her permission, and some of the stuff I was going to say I wouldn't feel happy about saying behind someone's back, as it were.

If she is happy for it to be discussed, then there's a lot of interesting things that can be said about this chart!

That's great - hope you didn't mind my asking.

Well, this is one hell of a chart. Most of the planets are all crammed in one small corner of the chart - the 11th, 12th and 1st houses on the left hand side. There is a LOT of Virgo in this chart - her rising sign is Virgo, so is her Moon, Mercury and Pluto. This makes Mercury her ruling planet, and Mercury is right on the Ascendant.

Now the big feature for me of this chart is that she has nothing in water signs except Neptune (and that's a generational thing). She also has lots of planets in the 12th house, including her Sun, which means that a lot of stuff is hidden. She also has Pluto, the planet of power and control, sitting on top of a lot of planets - this is very intense stuff.

So what does having no water mean? Water is to do with emotions, and it doesn't mean she doesn't have emotions, but she may find it easier to analyse the way she feels rather than *feeling* the way she feels, if that makes sense! Getting in touch with emotions can be hard, and she may actively suppress them - especially with all that twelfth house stuff. That bunch of stuff on the left hand side of the chart is a tight little bundle all making a rough right-angle to Saturn, and a rough right-angle to Mars. This is about suppression, and may reflect a difficult or painful childhood.

With her Sun and Venus in Leo, this is someone who wants to play and have fun - especially when she was a child. Mars in Taurus squaring her Sun represents a lot of bottled up anger and the Saturn squaring her Moon represents emotions and feelings being repressed, probably from an early age. Cinderella wants to go to the ball, and the two bad guys (Saturn and Mars) won't let her.

The only planets not in the left hand side of the chart are Mars and Saturn, and Chiron. Well, Chiron's not a whole bunch of fun either. He's the wounded healer - and although lots of astrologers emphasise the healing aspects of Chiron, which is a valid thing to do, we mustn't lose sight of the fact that Chiron is where we have a wound that will not ever heal. This wound is in the sixth house of serving others; everything about this chart suggests a Cinderella story that didn't have the happy ending; the little girl who wanted to go to the ball and play and had to stay behind while everyone else went off and had fun.

The result of all this is a highly analytical mind, someone who through her own past can be a great counsellor for others; a natural communicator, who can take the experience of pain and put it into a language that others can understand.

I mentioned the only water she has is Neptune. Neptune is about mysticism, intuition, big dreams (especially so close to Jupiter); her watery side isn't about her own emotions and wallowing in them, but about escaping from pain metaphysically or sometimes literally; positive routes for this would be meditation and a spiritual path; negative routes could include addictions to physical escapism - drugs, alcohol or food for instance (astrology isn't fatalistic, so we can't tell from a chart which route the person selected). This may explain some of the past life interest - the North Node is closely conjunct the Jupiter, which is tied in with the Neptune. This gives a heightened awareness of spiritual matters, but on the downside can also lead to being deception; however, those strong Virgo planets should help her sort out the wheat from the chaff.

As for what's going on right now - quite a lot. I don't normally look at Mars transits, but since Mars is in Taurus right now, and has slowed right down, he's playing a slow dance over her birth Mars. This is a Mars return - a time for action, or for anger. Mars in Taurus can be very bottled up, so this is probably a frustrating rather than energising time, and will be until Mars goes direct again on 10 December.

When someone has a big bunch of planets in one area, a slow moving planet won't just hit one of them, but all of them. Saturn, the planet of restriction, hit her Venus in July. That was the warning shot across the bows. It will hit her Uranus in July 2006, then square her Mars in August, and her Sun in October. This doesn't have to be all bad news - Saturn will also trine her natal Saturn, so could be good for career, and also a time to deal with any difficult issues from her past. Uranus will be opposite her Moon from March until December next year. The fourth house Saturn and the Uranus/Moon stuff suggests parental issues - either dealing with something from the past that has been buried, or current issues with a parent.

Intense times. The good stuff will be next November, when Jupiter trines her Venus, and progressed Venus moves from Virgo (hard work and no play) to Libra (relationships). I'd say 2006 is the year of testing for her - like an exam. If she passes, the end of that year will be pretty good news and a very welcome respite!

The embarrassed silence following this post makes me wonder if my interpretation was a bit extreme? It did strike me as a very intense chart, and I'd be interested to see what other astrologers here come up with.

Well, I notice there's also a real lack of Air here too. Just the MC, and there's not much in the Air houses either. The senses and mental agility are hampered here. There's a problem in relating to others and understanding their motivations. On the flip side, she may be quite creative because she just doesn't give a darn what others think of her!

I'm going out on a limb here, but I wonder if she has a difficult time communicating (a lisp, mumbles, babbles, etc ) and/or has to use an unusual method to talk, such as sign language. It could also mean she has difficulty understanding people when *they talk* because she's not able to pick up on the subtle clues to emotional states.

Also, what a Yod that is - Saturn apex to Uranus, Pluto and Neptune. All the big guys.
