yet again, ancestors

Do you use them in magick? Do you have any spells or rituals to help consult them or contact them? Are you ever in the need of their assistance? Do you honor them ritually? Do you have an alter or a shrine to them? Do you consider them to be a single entity past a certain time away from earth (do you think that they meld into a single form once their memory is lost on earth or they decide to reincarnate?)? Do you honor a single ancestor over the others? What role do you think they play in your life?

If you have been in contact with your ancestors how do they compair in feeling to other spirits?

I get confused when ancestors are used in magickal workings.

For one thing, I don't grasp the concept if we're calling personal ancestors or ancestors that we can all use. Like the witches that died from the witch hunts. Can anyone explain this to me?

Adren. I use several kinds of ancestors to help explain it to others, there are three types. First one is your personal ancestors, these guys are your family and family friends. Second group is everybodies ancestors, the world is full of people so why not draw on the collective wisdom of ages past? Third is a single entity ancestor, this is a semi god, the australian people called it the rainbow serpent which ate their ancestors (solved that little problem of having to feed every one :T), I just refer to it as the keeper, through it you can contact pritty much any one any were any time. So your not limited to just contacting uncle bob, the first preacher to introduce corpral punishment into your families church... And ya dont have to dig to find that one person that you think could be open to your current path. (not that that really matters once their dead, I mean do you see how grand parents light up to see their great grand children coming to see them? Emagine that they have been watching you but havent been able to speak to you until you reach out and talk to them, emagine their faces and their joy when they get to talk to a living being, and of their own blood!) However I must say that taking on some one elses ancestors is um... rude, so keep your hands off my great grand ma!:lol: As long as you approach them with respect and love I see no harm in contacting the world ancestors or the keeper, but some would probably benifit more from their family ancestors. Unlike their living counter parts they are much more open minded, being dead and all...
