Hi folks! I've done a little reading, but I'm not too well informed when it comes to magic, so I was wondering if anyone could offerme some advice for my first ritual.
Background info:
My fiance and I are just starting out; I'm a full time university student and he is working to support us until we're settled enough for him to take some college courses in the electric tradework. He has been working at Quiznos for a while but the owners have hired too many people and have cut his hours back to about 20 a week. I used to work there part time, but they had to let me go because they had hired too many people. Naturally, supporting both of us on 20 hours a week at 8.50 an hour is causing us some major financial difficulties. He has a job interview tomorrow at Tim Hortons for a full time position, and I want to ask the goddess for some energy to help him get the job.
I'm not sure which materials to use in my ritual. We have a green candle, musk, lavender, and dragon's blood incence as well as some cinnamon oil and a decanter. We have a bloodstone, obsidian and onyx stones. We also have a bunch of runes, but I can't tell one from the other so I'm not planning on using those. Does my living room need to perfectly clean before I cast a circle, or is it okay if I just clear a space? Also, I'm not too practised at castin circles, is it okay if mine's a little "wobbly"?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

I did it! I took off my clothes, spread some room around the alter and put the green candle, the bloodstone and the oild decanter on it, then I cast my circle and meditated to the goddess while repeating "great mother please help andrew get the job tomorrow" then I blew out the candle and watched the smoke rise. I left the oil burning because I used too much and it smells wonderful.
I felt a little silly afterwards, so I went outside and I wish I had done that first. I stared up at the full moon with the veil of light clouds moving past her and was suddenly hit by a gust of very strong wind as a black cat darted past me, stopped and watched me and then went on his way. I think it's a good sign. I always feel far more connected when I'm outside.

Hey, congrats on your first ritual, and good luck with him getting that job!

From what I've found, materials aren't as important as intent, and circles like that tend to be pretty springy :)

I guess it's a bit late since you've already done it, but for the space I'd say it just needs to be conducive to a magical sort of state of consciousness... to help you step into the sacred. So a whole room devoted to just doing rituals would be really effective (just walking in the room could act like flipping a little switch in your mind), but usually not too practical. Basically as long as it's not distracting you from focusing, it's good. I've heard of people doing runework on napkins at the coffeeshop, but, eh... I'm not quite there, yet! *chuckle*

Andrew got offered 2 jobs today- 1 from the tim hortons and 1 at a call centre for 10 dollars an hour! He's probably going to go with the call centre because it pays better, although the tim's is within walking distance and the call centre is a bit of a bus ride away.
wowie! I'm so happy

Well, i'd say that you spell worked doubly well. Don't forget to thank your Earth Mother, and many congarts on your first ritual. After this, they all become easier.
I agree with what's been said before me, it isn't the materials, it's the intent. The candles, oils and stones don't make the magick happen, that comes form you. You can do a spell with tap water and table salt.
Best of luck, and keep casting!

That's wonderful for both of you! Good job getting your first ritual done and good luck with him and those jobs.

Wow good on you! :D
Not that you really need it now, but the rune that looks like an F with the horozonal lines pointing up is used for wealth/prosperity.
