Mercury-Roman God of Commerce,
Apu-Ko-Hai-Hawaiian Fisherman God
Ebisu-Japanese God of hard work

those are the only deities i could come up with.

Athena comes to mind, but only if you're looking for a corporate-y job.

Alot of it could depend on what kind of employment you are seeking :)

It would depend on what kind of job you're looking for, but I think the best thing would be to pray to Thor, the patron of carls, and then use your occupational skills and sense of industriousness to get youself a job.

If you have aspirations of being a warrior, you could enlist in the military. Then you would have Tyr and Odin to pray to for various job-related things.

I agree.

If it is a specific job type than perhaps you can ask the assistance of a God or Goddess what is associated with and/or a patron of that work.

Exampled---
A job dealing with libraries, books, writing [my favorite! :)] you could ask assisitace from Seshet, Nisaba, Baalat, Djeheuty...etc.

What type of job are you looking for? Anything specialized?

Thanks guys, i'll try some of those tonight, hopefully. I'd like a job in a bar so if you know any gods that could help me get a bar job, that'd be great.

David,

Another thought- You can always pray to the gods that you personally worship as well. Even if what you're praying for isn't their traditional area. They are gods, after all. :)

I know that it's common for many pagans to grab a god that is associated with whatever the person is looking for and ask the deity for assistance out of the blue, but I feel that it smacks of disrespect. It's too much like using gods as merely tools, to me. *shrugs*

I agree.

Nevertheless, if you feel the need to ask for help from specific ones, I'll say...

Mercury or Hermes, both of Money and Commerce
Apollo, related to Wealth (Personally, He makes me think of gold.)
Bacchus or Dionysus, govern over things such as Wine
Plutus, God of Wealth (sometimes mixed up or with Pluto, of the Underworld)

Those are just some ideas.

1, find the job that you want to do and that pays enough (make sure that you have the skills required);
2, write out a dream in which you are doing this job and enjoying it thoroughly;
3, at the end of the dream, write in a realization of (some reason) why you'll 'never' get the job, and give up on it completely;
4, find a park near some paved streets where you can do a ritual without being observed or disturbed;
5, set your ritual up the way you normally would (cut a circle or whatever);
6, ground, clear, and meditate as follows:
........see the paved streets nearby as rivers;
........flowing thru these rivers are green-glowing, 'liquid' dollar signs;
........'look back' at the previous day, and 'see' people driving on these streets to go to work, to deliver things for pay, to get paid, to cash their paychecks, to buy things, paying for bus and cab rides, huge and expensive trucks delivering grocveries, chemicals, supplies etc...and all of these people with their passions focused on money while they focus on the road and the traffic, unknowingly creating money energy by magick (focus, passion, release), and imbuing that into the roads themselves;
.......gesture and invite this money energy to come to you, 'see' it surge up out of the 'road river', flow up to you circle, and in, to fill your aura, to spiral around you, to re-attune you to actual money itself;
7, commit yourself to doing positive things that you ordinarily would not do, cleaning up in your home, planting flowers, visit people you aren't related to in nursing homes and find a way to make their day (ie, commit random acts of senseless kindness);
8, end your ritual;
9, go and do as you have promised, still looking for work (generating 'job application karma');
10, before you sleep, read thru the dream you have written and ask your subconscious to let you experience this dream sometime that night (and repeat this part until you can remember having the dream);
11, go on with your life without telling anyone that you did anything or how well it did or did not work, don't think about it, don't hope for it, don't doubt it, don't worry about it, release it, forget it, and go on.

AFTER you get the job, most certainly come back and tell us how well or not this all went.

(the reason I can tell you all of this is that I just did these things and got a job I have been trying for for years - - - 'local' truck driver (Reno to Sacramento and back each night) without any over the road experience and with a recent moving violation, but I still got it!! Good luck, and excellent focus to you!!!)

Bacchus :lol:

Oh man! You beat me to it! I suppose you could call on Bachus! But what about deities, like Aegir, the ale brewer, or Diana who protects the vineyards and ensures prsoperous vineyards. I'm sure if yoiu\\u looked up deities of alcohol you'd probably get quite a bit, from deities who love to partay, to deities who brew and/or invented them. That might help. Good luck.:rolleyes: Actually, when it comes to my writing career it is Bragi, who assists me there. He would actually destroy or make me lose everything I wrote until I got the idea that my stories and poems were good enough to be published.
