My friend Willow wants her chart done, and especially requests insights into Mars/Chiron on her descendant. Her Mother, Brother and Sister, all born uin different eras, all have Chiron Mars conjunctions or oppositions...

RedRose, by '10-12' do you mean December 10th, or October 12th?

Water, water everywhere!
Willow's Sun is in Libra, Moon in Taurus, (the latter being the few non-water planets) with Cancer rising. Venus rules both Libra and Taurus, so it is one of the most important planets in this chart (more about which later).
A charming personality is your (Willow's) greatest asset. You are naturally easygoing, slow in getting started, but have plenty of follow-through, so once you start, you finish it. You also love efficiency, which is a recurring theme for you. You'll look for shortcuts and efficient ways of doing things to avoid wasting energy. Venus also rules things like art, music, romance and culture. in short, you are a sentimental romantic who probably cries at sad movies or a particularly moving piece of music.
That Mars/Chiron is a real focus. It's the point of a Kite which includes Venus, ruler of both the Sun and Moon. It's also one corner of a weak Grand Cross. The conjunction in question is in Capricorn, which is the exaltation of Mars, so already we're starting off on a good foot. Capricorn has to do with our ability to control and organize. Mars is how we assert ourselves, and when conjunct Chiron here can make you over organized and compulsively controlling. Or on the other you could rebel against being organized at all, but that's not very likely. Chiron likes being in the 7th house. It seems to do best when it can send it's energies outward to help others, and thereby heal the wounds it represents. You may spend all your time taking care of others, especially a partner or child who has a chronic illness. You may marry someone who represents your Mars - a bit aggressive, energetic and forceful. This could also work for business partnerships; you come in to help organize failing situations.
But it's not all lollipops and sunshine - anytime a Mars/Chiron hard aspect comes up it's ALWAYS about dealing with anger. Your challenge is to face your aggressive and masculine side. You may have a deep aversion to violence and be very uncomfortable with feelings and expressions of anger. You may also find it extremely difficult to be assertive or to stand your ground. Confrontation of any sort represents a problem for you. You prefer things to stay the same - no change for you. Which is ironic, since in life you've been a free spirit and seemed to take "the road less traveled." You're always looking for ideas that stretch your boundaries. You really don't like the idea of doing something if it doesn't fit into your long-range goals. Look at the Uranus/Jupiter opposition to Mars, that's change. This speaks to a lack of spontaneity in certain situations. Libra Suns don't like to rock the boat anyway . . . a lot of it could be explained by the Mars/Neptune contact. You don't like a lack of clarity; you won't budge until you are clear on a situation and what needs to be done.

Wow KEishin,
Willow is sitting here with me, and that is the best darn reading of her. She is impresseed - fun for me to watch! Astrology is so right on. It is scary sometimes.
Regarding Mars conjunct Chiron on Willow's Descendant: The Fluffmeister just wrote a great post about Chiron in my Grand Fixed Cross thread (where I am recording current events partly because this is my Chiron Return and I want to keep track). Of course Chiron is new, discovered in 1977, and Chiron has not even circled the zodiac once since it's discovery, so astrologers are learning as we go.
But what I notice is where your Chiron lands is your wound this life and it isn't going to heal, and it is painful until MAYBE (we aren't sure yet, but we are hopeful) after our Chiron Returns; that is, after age 50. However, we get really GREAT at healing others of similar wounds.
Where is your Chiron, sign and house?
So Chiron conjunct Mars makes me think abuse from men, and on the 7th House cusp...it is a fair guess that Willow has never pulled off marriage or the like, though she has helped others have better relationships. But now, after her Chiron Return, that all could change.
But of course I know her, whicb could be called cheating.

Well the way I see the Chiron Return (not having been through mine, I'm just guessing ;) ) is this: you're coming back to the same area of woundedness you were born with. But this time you have the benefit of 50 years experience to aid you. You've returned home, armed with the tools to fix what you've spent a lifetime dealing with, even if it's never truly healed. In addition, everyone else around you is dealing with the problems you've faced all your life, so you may see solutions easier than they would. You can take one of two paths here - grow and teach others, or hoard your information and charge others to recieve it. The first is the guru path, the second only brings temporary pleasure until the next Saturn Return comes along and kicks your butt for being selfish. Ask me again in 20 years and I may revise that supposition!
As far as her natal Chiron, definitely, issues with men in relationships could be indicated. One thing I didn't mention, but thought about while interpreting her chart, was that she's probably the type who is a great relationship counselor, but don't ask about her relationships; they're too busy falling apart. I don't mean that negatively, just that she can turn her Chiron placement to helping others easier than she can to herself. What she's learned she can use to help others before they get in the same situation. It's ironic that way.
I would totally agree with the above. It's always going to be painful - growth usually is - but the lesson is not so much about healing that wound as it is the journey and what you learn on the way! (That's my opinion)
As for me, I've got Chiron in Taurus in my 11th house. For me, it's been about overcoming a severe lack of self-worth, due to a lack of affection from my parents (I wouldn't give them a houseplant to nurture - it'd die). I wasn't like the other kids growing up, and wasn't very social anyway, so I never fit in and was constantly reminded of that fact. But I've always been great at making other people feel good about themselves in similar situations; just still working on it for myself! Astrology has been just another way of doing that for people - I do their chart and help them see how they can improve themselves. In the process I find different ways to help myself.

Hi KEishin,
Yes, what you are saying seems right to me and, of course, I pray that you, and others, are correct about the positive potentials of life post-Chiron Return.
For instance I fully expect Willow to meet the right partner; not that she is pining, I simply intuitively feel her partner is on the way. I feel the same thing for myself, like I am on the edge of a big lucky break of the 10th House type. Time will soon tell.
