Yeah, I started the other thread, figured I start one for things people like about the holidays.

I love the weather, Texas rarely gets cool or even cold so I enjoy it while I can. Plus, my winter wardrobe is bigger. ;)
I LOVEEEE the food, the winter air, the smell of burning wood, and snow (although we dont realy get that here). I especially love the fact that I can gain 10lbs from all the food, and no one will notice because I have like 5 layers of clothing on. hehe

Now that they are a bit older, it isn't as prominent, but I *love* the way my kids see the holiday as magical- Santa and Flying Reindeer and all.

I love making our family Yule Log.

I love the lights (within reason). Small and pretty displays are so much nicer to see than huge ones.

I love watching family and friends open the gift I have for them, esp. the ones I have made myself.

I love our Movie Tradition. We make a snack dinner, cheese, crackers, dips etc, and watch A Christmas Story together. It ain't Xmas until I see a Christmas story with the family and Its a Wonderful Life, usually by myself.

I love watching the faces of our kids and the faces on our niece and nephew when they get their presents (this year we'll have to set up a web cam so we can see our nieces and nephew opening their presents)
I also love the huge peppermint candy canes.. ( i intend on stocking up before they stop selling them)

I love the music: Bing crosby, Nat King Cole, The nutcracker suite. I also love the lights, and the smells! I really miss family. Being miliary we're 1,000's of miles away and Dec. was always full of get togethers: sledding, skating, hot cocoa, and parties for the kids. Holidays are fun, but gosh I'm home sick now! The best part of all is re-living it all through our kids, and creating new traditions.

I love everything!!!! I love how the holidays bring cooler weather. I love how people seem kinder and smile when passing you and say "Merry Christmas" when you check out at the store. I love our family traditions, the excitement of the kids, the lights and decorations, the food......all of it. I'm so depressed when its all over :(

I love everything about the holidays. A few years ago I finally accepted that I cannot create a "Martha Stewart" Christmas and that that is perfectly ok. I do things my way, in a more relaxed, informal style and that works for us perfectly. I love the lights and decorations, the music and gathering of family and friends. I love the look in my childrens' eyes as we talk about santa and the magic of Christmas. I love that my children have listened and understood when I've told them that Christmas isn't about what you get, they truly enjoy giving to others. I'm blessed that my family understands the true meaning of Christmas and we celebrate it together, as a family...

I enjoy just being with my children. This will be our first Yule/Xmas alone together as a family and I keep it simple. We do the traditional tree and cookies and music and stuff. I love driving through the neighborhood and showing my kids the pretty lights. This will be the second year we did not attend the Christmas in the Oaks in New Orleans and I know due to Katrina, it will be gone. It's kind of sad in a way.
We have a tradition where I will take the kids to the dollar store or walmart and have them pick out any ornament they want and that's their ornament for the year, so when they are older, they will have a box ready to take iwth them for their own tree when they leave home.
It's a special time for me to celebrate family, friends, the slumber of winter before Spring and to enjoy the cold, still, starry nights that I still get to see once in a while.
Basically, I enjoy what I make out of it.
Best wishes to you all this holiday season.

Oh this is an easy one for me, I LOVE the holidays. I love:

The ass biting cold of winter and possibly snow!
The smells of winter foods, soups, stews, roasts, pies, and hearty breads
The smell of a Yule tree
The smells of my candles (pine, cinnamon, apple spice, cranberry)

Are ya seeing a smell pattern?

I love the warmth of the house, but the chill outside
I love all the decorations around my home
Cooking a big dinner for friends and family.

I'm sure there's more.

I love the snow.
I love the excitment of the dogs playing in the snow.
I love the lights that people put up.
I love how the kids get all excited.
I love the family get togethers.
I love all the sappy movies that come on TV during the holidays.
I love warming up by sipping hot chocolate and Schnapps.
I love all the Dept. 56 setups.
I love snuggling in bed with the extra comforters all toasty and warm on non-work days.
I love the brightness of the nights after it snows.

As we hardly ever get snow here (and we hardly have any contact with family - not that I'm complaining about that), the only thing worth looking forward to the holidays about is the excuse to drink.

i don't like Christmas.

I'm going in my box.

All the food
Egg Nog!
Snow. In the 13 years I've lived here, we only had one green Christmas.
The way my 12 year old dog acts like a puppy on Christmas morning.
sitting around with my hubby looking at the tree with our glasses off cause it makes it look all soft-focus and blurry.
