I really want to make that Ju Ju Doll on the Anti-Craft site, but don't know how to knit, can anyone recommend a good Learn to Knit site?

Try the Better homes and Gardens website. You can also just search for it it if that doesn't work for you.

DIYNET (http://www.diynet.com) Has two shows dedicated to knitting... Knitty Gritty and Knit one perl two... they have a bunch of patterns and howto's on their site. Here's the one from Knitty Gritty on getting started.

I've been meaning to learn how to knit but currently I'm having too much fun with crochet... I'll get to it eventually.

www.knittinghelp.com (http://www.knittinghelp.com)
It has online video clips that take you through step by step. If you can get to a library they will probably have a few books that can help you too. Most knitting pattern books have an illustrated learn to knit guide at the front too.
I'd go for English rather than continental knitting if you're teaching yourself.
Have fun!

Is that anti-craft site here in the forum? I'd like to see this doll you want to make.

ty all!!!
k, got my needles and yarn, I can now cast on, knit and working on binding off...after that I'll work on purl, slip and make 1 etc...hopefully I will get through this!!! And apparently I need DPN's (double pointed needles) how hard are they to work with? More wrist stuff?
As for the doll, here's a direct link

DPNs can be a bit tricky at first as people tend to knit too tight at the point where they change needles. It won't matter for the Juju doll as the guage is really tight anyway.
We had a Knit-a-long for it on a knitting site I go to. Here are our attempts at it so far.

Good for you Shay Shay. I am impressed. I am working on teaching myself how to crochet, and it is tougher than it looks. At least for me.
But then again, I am clutz. :p
How long did it take you to get the hang of knitting?

Maybe someday I will catch up to you all!!! How long did it take you to make your first Bad Juju?

Ummm, well ok, I know this isn't normal, and its going to sound like bragging and I am kinda proud of myself (I am on of those crafty-pick-it-up-and-can-do-it types)...I got my yarn and needles and brought them home yesterday at 4:15 pm, between dinner, baths, house tidying etc...
by app 7:30 I had cast on 28 sts x 30 rows and then binded them off...so app 3 hours to get that part down. Throughout the day today I will start working on a new block to learn the other stuff and maybe by tomorrow I will start a simple scarf or something.

I was working on mine over about 4 days, I was fitting it in around other projects. You could do it in a few hours if you just sat making that.

Knitting is one of those things that you can pick up really quickly. It's a lot less complicated to learn than crochet.
