Text warp:
Once you type your text on your image, go to the main bar up top and click on the warped text symbol. It’s the only “T” on the main bar. It’s to the right of the text color box.
On the warp text window, select a style of your choice. Notice that you can play with the curves by changing the ‘bend’ percentage. You can also play with the other things in that box if you like.
Note: Text warp will not work on bold text. Remove bold from text before
using this feature.

Free Transform feature:
This feature can be applied to both text and images. To use this tool, go to Edit, and then Free Transform. Be sure that the proper layer is selected in the layers window before doing this.
This feature will allow you to rotate your image/text as well as size the image/text’s width and height.
Tip: To maintain the dimensions of the image/text when sizing it diagonally, hold the shift and alt buttons at the same time then click and drag.
Transform feature:
This feature can also be applied to both text and images. It has a few options. They are Scale, Rotate, Skew, Distort, Perspective, Warp, Rotate 180, Rotate 90 cw, Rotate 90 ccw, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical.
The Scale and Rotate functions are the same functions utilized in the Free Transform feature only they can be used separately here.
The Skew allows you to slant the image/text in different directions.
The Distort is similar to the Skew. Only this function allows you to do more with the image/text to attain a more 3D look.
The Perspective is similar to the Skew and Distort but it moves the image/text a bit differently.
The Warp is a feature that allows you to move many different points of the image/text. You can be very creative with this feature.
If you want to spend time with these options, just open an image and use these features on that or create a text layer and apply them to the text. For practical banner making, I’ve found these features especially useful for text.
I’ve also found the Flip Horizontal to be very handy for banners when I want to flip an image from left to right.
Assignment: Create a banner using any method you like. When you add text, apply a text warp to it. Please indicate which text warp you used. Use at least one transform feature on the text. Specify which one(s) you used.
You may use one of the 5 images attached or any other image you like.
Tip: Try to make the text follow the curves of the features in the image. Ex. You can make them run along a mountain side or follow the curves of a fairy’s wings.

I added text and used the text warp "Arch" - adjusted the bend percentage to +25%.
I then went to Edit - Transform - Rotate to align my name with the fairy's wings.
I went back to the text warp and lowered the bend percentage to +20% to make it align better with the fairy's wings.
On my text I added the blending options of Satin and Outer Glow.

ok here is mine,
i applied a satin and inner glow effect to the image, i was contemplating a pastel grain effect but decided against it.
then i had a go with the transforming, but it didnt look good when i applied it, so there are no transformation on the image itself but i applied an arc on the text along with rotating it, i reduced the arc alot and also applied a horizontal component to make it go from smaller to bigger. i applied a glow and a satin to the text along with a drop shadow to highlight the text and thus this is what you see before you lol

i used a picture my grandma took in alaska... its either the sunset or the sunrise, i think its a sunrise, but i could be wrong... either way, its pretty... the text might be too small to read, it says "I think I'll follow the sun, isn't everyone just travelling down their own road?" it doesn't make a lot of sense by itself, but i'm on a madonna kick, and its the first madonna song i could think of with the word sun in it...
anyways, for the top part of the text, i applied the arc effect, at 60%, and then the bottom part is the flag effect, i can't remember which percentage i used on that one... then i merged the two text layers, and used the drop shadow and inner glow...

slight twirl on my name, and a outer glow, the main words, are arch upper, and drop shadow, i combined two pics and changed the color of the fae to blue so it would look more wintery.

Thanks to you and Storm Moon on your compliments... :D But really, all I did was add the text and make it work with the already beautiful art. I wanted to emphasize her head and wings - so I guess that part turned out the way I wanted...
As for your banner.... Excellent work! Looks like a bit of a challenge there to follow the curves like that along the backs of the wolves! Very... very good.

_handclapp Absolutely beautiful! I love it... You're right about the text though. The top text is a lot easier to read but the bottom, I can barely make it out. Nevertheless, you did an excellent job with warping the words around the sun. It looks like something you'd see on a poster!

Very nice work!... you'd never think the fairy was pink to begin with. Your attempt at making it look "wintery" is very convincing. ;)

I used rise warp for both text and a filter then added a few finishing touches to the image.

Here's something my son done a few years ago for our web page. You might have to clip on it to get it to work. Still tring to figure out how he did it.

Cool picture from the aquarium... and your son did a great job on the blue one. The wolf fading in and out is easier to do than you may think. I don't think we'll have time to introduce animation during this class... but we'll see.

Okay...took a photo from my trip to Wales. Cropped the image, Image Size to 105, copied to banner, then Copy/Paste/Flip in the blank area. Added Text, Warp Text = Flag: 100% bend; Transfer Free (w/ ctrl-alt) to move text more to shape of cairn. Went back to Warp Text changed horizontal to -54%. Went to Transfer/Skew to fit better to curve (note: Distort and Perspective were grayed out). Went to Layer Style: picked a style that fit; added my name and picked a style colour to blend.
Blessings,

Well now that SkySliver showed me how to use Stroke I used it on "Banner Class Student" along with:
Innerglow
Bevel & Emboss
Reddish color overlay 70% opacity
Stroke changed from red to Brown Yippeeeee
Arched to 20% and Freeformed to fit the curve of the mountain.
Yay, I'm caught up, and still learning new things all the time. This should keep the old Alzheimer's at bay.

This time, I first copied the wolf onto a banner and then spliced the blue to cover the rest of the background. I added the moon to the top. The text parts I used Arch up for the bending. Then free transformed to make it a bit larger, thentransform to skew it a bit.
The Mystic Wicks part was an arch down, and skew .
I flattened the image and added a layer for "Global Light" and then satin for a blending layer.

Thanks a lot guys! It's really good to hear. Especially that you're having fun with it... because that's another thing I wanted - to keep the element of fun in the class.
Argent, no problem... it's best to make sure you concentrate on your exams first. These lessons are going to be up for a while after I post the last lesson anyway.

Here's mine. I put an Inner Glow on the image and added a Gaussian Blur, and adjusted the hue. For the text, I used the Flag text warp, the Scale option, and a slight Rotate. (I don't have Warp, and Distort and Perspective were grayed out.) I'm having a lot of fun with these assignments :)

I used Arc and Free Transform on the first line of text to align with the Wolves. Then, on the second line, I used Rise. Both lines of Text are set to Overlay in the layer settings.

ok for this one i cropped the image then resized it to fit the banner. then i added the text using the Script MT Bold Font. i cant remember everything i did with the text cause i played around with it alot. at one point, i used the arch warp then i tried using the warp in transform but finally decided to go with the free transform to try to make the text go with the flow of her wings, i think it may be a little off but here it is....

Right. Finally got this one done. :) Bennu's the inspiration for this one. He appears as a grey heron. he's like the Kemetic equivalent of the phoenix. He's reborn every new year.
As to what I did:
I googled for hours to find the right (and usable) pic of a grey heron since googling Benu, Bennu, phoenix etc came up with nothing.
Croped the image to cut the bottom half off. wasn't needed. Added a lense flare on top of His head to represent the Sun disk He wears. Added lighting effects (get used to it, I love them) to glow up the head area more. Narrowed the field so the boundary between light and non-light wasn't obvious. Used the cutout filter to make the background all interesting.
Now we get to the text. Added the first text with I thin it has an outer glow thing applied to it, warped it so it followed the line of Bennu's back. The second line I added a texture style to and made follow the line of the log. I like the dark/light contrast.
So, there you have it. Finally, inspiration for this struck. :) I think I remembered everything. Enjoy.
