I bought my first pentacle! :floating: Weeee, after 5-ish years of being Wiccan, I finally bought one! And it's pretty and feminine too, which is what I always wanted.
I know this has been asked before but this forum is soooo huge, I searched for "cleansing rituals" and "pentacles" but I obviously got thousands of results. :P If someone could point me in the right direction of a good thread about this, please do. :)
In the mean time, I have some questions:
I'm not a big ritualist, what would be the best and easiest way to cleanse my pentacle? Would a simple visualization be alright?
I'm a little rusty and I haven't done any magical workings in a long time ( ) so I don't know how well my visualization skills are right now.
Any thoughts? Should I light candles? Burn some incense? Invite the elements? (I'm inviting the Goddess for sure....)
I'm at a lost. Help?

Hi Tigerlily, congrats on getting a pentacle! Using just visualisation would be fine, but what I like to do when I cleanse/consecrate a new tool is to use visualisation, but also use words (call on the elements and the lady and lord to bless your tool) and herbs, oils etc. I often cleanse my pentacle with rose water, and when I consecrated it I used a little of my own personal blend of anointing oil (I think it was sweet almond with frankincense and sandalwood... but you could use any oil that appeals to you). I have the ritual I used written down in my BoS at home, but I haven't been home in a few days because I'm having problems with my housemates. Maybe if I go home in the next few days I will type it out for you here. But it is better to write your own invocations to the elements, lady and lord etc. It doesn't have to be long or complicated, it just has to be meaningful to you. Good luck Tigerlily, and blessed be. :broomride

On the search, you want 'purification'.
But if you just immerse it in a bowl or something and cover it with salt for three days, clean it off and charge it, everything should be fine.

I would consider all of that 'charging' (a good way to charge, too!!), but I would make sure I had purified out all the stuff the item may have picked up from the maker, the store, the warehouse, etc, before I started charging it...

I'm afraid that would tarnish it. It's not real silver.

IMHO, those that posted above gave you some good advice!I do not think there is anything I can add to that at the moment.

You could cleanse and bless it by using the four elements. By soaking it in salt water, you are cleansing it with Earth and Water, and then you can pass it through the smoke of some incense to charge it with Air and Fire. Then if you would like you can annoint it with an oil to seal it.
I also like re-charging my pendants by dangling them in a fresh running river or stream.

Nope! Just put it in -dry- salt and don't let it get wet...and it won't tarnish.

I usually bury my sacred objects in seasalt then rinse them in spring water, then I keep them near me for 24 hours to soak up my energys and I never allow anyone to touch them after they are officially mine
