It has been really quiet as of late around here...
Has everyone gone to Egypt for the winter and no one told me?

OK, here is a question I would like to ask everyone on an Egyptian path:
Have you ever come into direct contact with Ancient Egyptian monuments or artifacts, be it in Egypt or in a museum, world fair or any other kind of exhibit?
What did you feel? Did the objects or monuments touch you in a deep spiritual way? Or did you just appreciate them for their beauty/significance/rarity but did not feel overly moved?

Last year, some of the best pieces from the British museum were shown in Victoria, BC.
It was the first time I was looking at actual Egyptian artifacts and sculptures since I embarked on the Kemetic path. It was hard to believe how much these objects touched me. Every single one seemed to have a story to tell me. One of the cube statues on display was so literally oozing heka that it immediately gave me goosebumps.
One thing I could not do, however, was going into the Mummy chamber. I never enjoyed looking at mummies anyway, but the thought of them being utterly defiled and put on display like mere objets was so sacrilegious I think I would have cried.

I was also lucky enough to go several times to Egypt, but it was unfortunately before I became aware of my spirituality. I often wonder how different my experience would have been if I had already been Kemetic when I went. The two places I am dying to go back to are Edfu (because strange things happened to me there and I would love another chance to try and understand) and Medinet Habu, Ramesses III's funerary temple.
That, and Hatshepsut's temple too, and the Valley of the Kings, and Abydos... it is a neverending list!

Whew... that was a bit long-winded. Sorry!

I love seeing the artifacts at museums, but I, too, dislike seeing mummies in there, because I believe the dead should rest in peace without people gawking at them.

I did feel awed when I got to stand in some sort of ancient temple that had been moved in its entirety to the Met, in New York. But that was back in 2002.

I wouldn't feel heka if it hit me on the nose, so I can't say that I got any vibes from my time in the Met or any other museum. But "in awe" is a good description. I did feel in awe of the ancients, that they could create something so long-lasting, and that we could bear witness to any of it still today, thousands of years later.

As to Egypt, I feel no desire to be there. Not now or anytime in the future. The Egypt I would have liked to see no longer exists, so there's not much point in my spending so much time and money on a trip to visit the modern-day country.

Oh yeah I do lots of strong energy from the row of Sekhmet (some conjoined with Mut) statues there. Before I became Kemetic I had a deep sense of feeling home, coming from the artifacts.

The only place in Egypt I want to go is Kom Ombo. I want to see Sebek's Temple. I want to see the Cairo Museum as well. OK, so I want to go to Faiyum as well. I can't help it, I'm a Sebek fangirl. And I've suddenly developed a desire to get to know Nisut Sobekneferu (AUS). I had no idea she was a woman. You learn something new every day. :D I've always had a thing for the Sebek-named kings, but yeah. And this is getting off-topic here.

We don't have many artifacts from Egypt in our museum here. We have lots and lots of amulets though. I do know they still hold their power. I don't know why, but they do. I almost don't want to touch them. They're not on display much, I usually go for the Diamonds to Dinosaurs exhibit (yay for evoution and such things!) but when I've seen them, I get the sense of power from them. It's like, they're not just small bits of faience. They're alive almost. I wish we got some more artifacts over here to see. But, if I remember correctly we have the largest collection of amulets in Australia. Or something like that. Yay for amulets! No, seriously, I'm not being sarcastic there. It's wonderful. We have our own little Ancient Egypt society here, and they have some wonderful lectures.

Right, I'll stop there before I get further off-topic. :D

I feel any relic or thing fro an actual person or place and time, especially if you follow it touches you. Its been so long since I"ve seen real historic artifacts in person, and since you can't touch them in museums it wouldn't be as much, but I do remember a presence when I saw I think Mayan things when I was young.
