I'm a 20 year old Aussie who has been searching for that deeper spirtiual something for almost a year now. Tried really really hard to accept/understand Christianity but only became depressed with all the "You can't do anything by yourself / You're never good enough for God by yourself" dogma. I've always believed even while I was a practicing christian child that all religions are basically the same.

At the moment I'm only looking to block out all spiritual/supernatural stuff. I really just wanna be left alone to learn what can be acomplished by yourself - without God. So I'm here to learn that, hopefully. Afterwards I'm gonna have another wack at understanding the divine.

Have you thought about exploring the Tao? If ever there was a God-free religion that teaches you to be the best you can be with only just 81 small chapters (Link (http://www.wam.umd.edu/~stwright/rel/tao/TaoTeChing.html)... hmmm. Actually, I like this translation (http://www.chinapage.com/gnl.html)better.) of sound advice, this could be the path for you.
