concerning a strange amulet

[Raven of the Morning]

A good friend of mine was given an interesting-looking amulet (pic below) by his aunt when he visited her in South America. She claimed it was the Seal of Solomon, and that it would protect him from evil spirits. http://www.abaxion.com/astseal.htm is the only place online where I can find an amulet that matches the one he was given, and they claim it's the Seal of Solomon as well. When I did my own research, I found that the actual Seal of Solomon looks quite different. The nearest thing I could find to this amulet is the Seal of Mars, which only shares the octogram in common.

This isn't my usual area of study, and I'm really not sure where to look next, so I thought I'd bring it to you guys. Any help at all would be appreciated.

I started to translate the Hebrew, but I don't have the time necessary to do that. However, the word inside the circle (on the right) equals 418 kabalistically, a significant number. Maybe you could translate it all and see what both the words and their numerical values mean.
