I'm hoping someone here can help me. In Kemetic(sp) belief, i heard that there are many gods with the same name - more than one Heru, etc. I was just wondering if you believe it's the same for the other gods - e.g. more than one Anubis, Isis, Bast, other Egyptian deities and also for non-Egyptian gods like do you believe there is more than one Yahweh, Zeus, etc.

Thanks, hope you can help.

Kemetics say that there is more than one Heru in the same way that I, as a Jennifer, can safely say, that there are at least six other Jennifers on this website, and that none of them are me, even though their name is also Jennifer. :)

That gives a good primer on how many Heru's there are. Some are syncretisms, others are full-fledged separate deities, and still others are synonyms.

In magical workings, it's been purported that the magician would take whatever Names (two or three, usually) and mix Them together as a syncretised name in order to achieve the full effect in his spells. The theory being that, yes, the gods are all separate, but They are also part of the same Netjer.

While I'm not an expert on Yahweh or Zeus, I would be inclined to say that (particularly in Yahweh's case) there is only one of each of those deities.
