So...this morning my boyfriend and I awoke to the sound of the fire alarm going off (the most annoying noise EVER!) We frantically went searching for the fire - downstairs, my boyfriend's little brother's room, in the spare rooms upstairs etc.

We eventually found it in my boyfriend's Mum's room, but she wasn't there! We looked round for her, but couldn't find her in the room, nor anywhere else. We called the fire engines out, but by that time the fire had gone out as it wasn't major. At this point, my SO's Mum walks in panicking about what was going on!

Turns out, she left a candle lit last night before going out (although she didn't actually tell us she was going out!) The flame from the candle set the toilet on fire. YES, THE TOILET!! The wall in the bathroom is burnt to a crisp and there is soot EVERYWHERE. It's going to take at least a few weeks before it's back to normal again.

I just hope she sees this as a lesson - about leaving candles unattended, and also about informing us if she's going to be staying out all night! We were worried that she was still in there, and that we just couldn't find her because of the smoke. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but it's surprising how easily these things can happen and at the same time, how easily they could have been avoided.

I know what you mean hun! The cistern was made of plastic, so it was able to catch fire pretty easily. At least that's what the firemen told us. I suppose in years to come, this will make a pretty funny story!

And yes, you will have the best cocktail story ever, "Did I ever tell you about the time my toilet was on fire?" Lol :hehehehe:.

im glad that no one was hurt and there was not alot of damage (compared to what could have been)

i cant stand to leave candles lit unattended. this gets trouble some cause if i do a candle spell, you have to leave it lit till it goes out on its own right, well i did this one spell i started early in the day, 3 votive candles, all day, all night they burned and nothing, they were still going strong by the time i needed to go to bed. so i blew them out (i talked with the lord and lady about my blowing out the candles and why i think they understood) i still havnt had much work on that spell come to light yet, i think it was cuase it took me almost a week to burn them out. and eveyr time i needed to blow them out i told them why.
