I thought I would share this interesting story with you all and see what you thought. I bought a smallish citrine wand from a store I buy all of my alter supplies from. I get it home and do with it what I usually do to any new stones I buy. I clensed it and was filling it with my energy and it broke. It just crumbled in 4 different pieces in my hand. When I bought it it didn't feel frail like it would break. I was confused and dissapointed. I called the store and told the woman that worked there what happened and she said she didn't know her policy on returns but she thought it was fascinating that it broke like that and wondered if it was my energy that did it. I actually decided to keep it and I use it from time to time in ritual and spells. I actually feel like its kind of special to me now. More so than my others.

What do you all think of this?

I wonder how you cleansed it. Some stones don't react well to certain methods of cleansing, like water or salt. Also, if there's a stress fracture in the stone and you give it rapid temperature change, it can cause cracks.

I doubt your energy actually did anything to the stone - there's likely a much more mundane reason.

oh I agree but its fun to think about. I use water and a cloth to clense. That might have done it... or maybe it wasn't as strong as I thought. But still... it was interesting :)

Citrine is fairly strong, but if it did have a stress fracture and you held it too tight it could have broken it. Aslo I am of the thought that you could have put too much energies into it all at once. But if you love it it will love you back.

itis possible your energies and the stones energies did not comply, and the stone burst rather than being manipulated

that is why charging with one's own energioes should be done only in a very secured context, or kep aside.

also you shoulkd get info on whether it was a citrine at all.

i suspect it was a wand made of zitrine, the burned amethyst, because quite frankly, a wand made of natural citrine would be rather unaffordable

This is true I once priced a three inch wand of citrine and they wanted about 155 USD. For me that is alot of money.

I did not know there was such a stone called zitrine and that it was a burned amethyst. My goodness.

well, *I* call it zitrine as to distinguish it from tzhe natural citrine. in english terminology burnt amethyst still is called citrine.

if people were honest, they would say treated or heated citrine at least - but due to world trade rules, the declaration of the commonly used colour enhancements and stone treatments, such as heating amethyst to get citrine is not necessary to state:rant:

It's just my tradition, but if a stone cracks during ritual or ceremony like that it's said to be 'opening its heart to you'. So yeah, perhaps you overwhelmed it, and it gave itself.

Or, it was a lemon. :/

If you cleansed it with water and it got into a crack and then heated it, well then its pretty obvious if its weak its going to have an oppsie or at least do some internal damage depending on the strength of the crystal involved. Ive squeased some of my crystals pretty hardand Ive never had one break on me before I dunno though my candles tend to explode on me instead lol

I have a friend who breaks stones like this.. just by touch, if they are purported to be something that they are not.. an unnatural kind of stone or treated stone. If you were lied to about the stone, this may be the issue.
