I know this could go in Magical Creature & Familiars but I thought this section was more specific. Move it if you need to.
I know that dragons are told in the lore of pretty much all civilizations. I was wondering, other than dragons in the lore and tales like Beowulf.....do we have any information/sources of our Germanic ancestors believing in or working with them?

Working with?!? Um, hardly... fighting, slaying, being eaten by, etc... serpents weren't looked on with kindness by the Northern folk...

Fafnir, Nidhogg, and Jormungand are the three most famous I can think of besides the beowulf dragon. But as Rick said, working with dragons was something they did not. All had very few postive attributes, often being associated with greed, or the end of the world.
(edited because once again my spelling is horrendous. I will remember one of these days to proof these things before I hit reply. )

I can't find anything except what wa said above about wyrms and dragons. However, if you want to look into it further to come to "new" conclusins, dragons have certain attributes that couls technically be considered positive attributes. Strength, Might, Stubborness, Change, Challenge, etc...
I hope this helps. As you know though, I'm still very new to this. :D And obviously by my name, I like dragons... at least fantasy ones.
