I have seen it 3 times... then again, I'm a sound technician for the cineplex in town so my movies are FREE.

I would have paid to watch it though, 10 times (okay, more)!

Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the special FX, loved the music, loved everything... loved it!!

There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe this film. It was truly the most amazing experience of my life. I have to say, for me, it felt just like a spiritual event. I was enthralled from the very beginning. I had high expectations, I love these books. They are my absolute favorite. I love everything about this movie, even the parts i wasn't so sure on, like the introduction of Arwen early on. Beautiful. Magnificent. Truly amazing. I can go on & on.

The first shot of Rivendale, brought me to tears. I swear. Their depiction of it, was even more beautiful than my dreams. I loved this movie. I have never EVER felt this way about a film. I have movies that i adore, but this moved me. I stayed glued in my seat for the entire time. I went with Eshallet to the 10:15 showing last night. He was holding my hand throughout most of it. I nearly broke it a few times. I was glued to the screen. I wish I could go back again tonite, but I can't. I have to wait until Friday night, when we're bringing my son. I KNOW I will pay to see this wonderful film at least 3 more times.

I couldn't wait to log on to tell you all. But I got home at 2 a.m. (our movie showing was at 10:15 pm last night). Then, when I got to work this AM, our internet was down until now. GO SEE THIS FILM. Bring your kids, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, aunts, uncles, mom, dad. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE. It is truly a work of art!

This is the best movie EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!

*gee, you think i liked it?* ;)

Oh my lord. It was soooooo amazing!!! I didn't read the books, but...oh my lord. It was breathtaking and completely lived up to (and surpassed) all of my expectations. Everyone: GO SEE IT NOW! Run, don't walk! Hehe, seriously, it was awesome.

I, too, want my own elf boy or girl...actually, I'd just like Aragon, Arwen, Galadriel, and Legolas. I'm not being too selfish, am I? :elf:

We must be Soulmates or something because you just described EVERYTHING down to the miniscule points that I felt about this film! lol I also felt a kinda longing too... Like some place like that existed at one time or another and I lived there. Has anyone else felt this. It's strange, I have never felt that way about a movie. It completely transformed me and made me feel so alive and real while I watched it. It was like I was home... I sound like a loon so I am shutting up now hehe

HAI HAI OMG HAI!!!! The scene of Rivendale. . . .dude it made me want to cry. I loved it dearly!!!! And the forests. . . the tree villages, when I saw them glowing and oh so beautiful, I found myself saying "home, that's home. Home." omg I LOVED that movie. It RULED omg so ruled

ROFLMAO something funny: at the end of the movie, you know when he's making that big speech and the scenery's in the background, I was talking softly to my friends and I noticed how that's how movies sound towards the end but you're thinking "naah this can't be the end even though I've been here for eternity." and I jokingly said "credits. *moves hands pantomiming credits*" . . . . AND THE CREDITS STARTED ROLLING LMAO half the theater was laughing/glaring at me!! LMAO at least, those close enough to have heard/seen me ^^;;; it was funny LOL

but omg it was like that movie took things out of my mind and heart and waaay back that i couldn't express. . . it's like adreamland for all of you! so wonderful!!!!!

:D harry potter's kewl too hehe but not nearly THIS awesome! (as far as the movies go)

Just got back about hour and a half ago from seeing the movie for the 2nd time. One thing I noticed this time, was the audience wasn't as cool as Wed. crowd. Eshallet chalked it up to "friday night movie crowd." We brought my son. He was entranced the entire time. He was adorable when Strider (Viggo, *drool* :mmm:) killed a bad guy. He clapped & cheered. My kid is awesome.

I still ended up shedding a tear when they came to Rivendell. Beyond my wildest dreams. Beautiful.

I know what you mean about it being "home". I just felt like for those 3+ hours I WAS in Middle Earth. It seemed like time flew, cause I couldn't believe it was over.

We were asked to fill out survey's about it today. I told the guy, I could answer it already, it was my second time! We even saw our friends from Wed. night at the theater today. I think a bunch of us are planning to go on Monday, since the majority of us are off work! Can't wait!!!!!

This movie is truly a magnificent work of art. So, what are you doing sitting here reading my post??? RUN! Go out & see it!

Having read the trilogy 4 times since 1972, I really didn't expect to be that impressed.

Well, I AM! I had to wait in line for 1 1/2 hours because they caught the popcorn maker on fire! I thank the producer for keeping so close to the books in content and storyline.

And there is noone that can tell me that Tolkin didn't study Druidry! I think that anyone interested in Runework would do well to study the appendices at the end of book III. ;)

All in All, it gets the Good Druid Seal of Approval !

Peace,

Umm, actually the Silmarillion is the mythology of several millennia before the action of the LOTR, and it may not help much in understanding "Fellowship." But it's well worth reading on its own account. What's the name of the program, pray tell?

Saw the movie on Christmas Day, will see it again tomorrow. Will have to look for the three trolls!

My favorite line: Boromir's "They've got a cave troll" rendered with just the right touch of casual disgust. Second favorite is the hobbit discussion of meals. "What about second breakfast? I don't think he knows about second breakfast."

OH MY GOD(s)!! What a terrific movie!!!

<-------has seen it TWICE! Great great great! I'm only upset about one thing...

....now I have to wait another YEAR for the second one!!! aaahhh.....oh well, gives me time to read the second and third books. I'm reading Fellowship of The Ring...and I must say, the movie was a lot like the book. Overall, it was marvelous, astouding...

*sigh* And if I only had an elf boy here with me right now...Hell, I wouldn't be typing, for sure! :p Hehe! You have no idea how excited I was to see a real life Elf (well, maybe not real, but real enough!) on the big screen!! Just ask MistofTheSea! OMG
I saw this movie the first time yesterday, New Years Eve. It was incredible, and everything I ever hoped for.

I started crying halfway thru the movie or somewhere around Riversdale (I was really unaware of time). I was thinking that it was worth waiting 35 years for. Then I thought too bad my mother wasn't here to see this (Mom passed 16 yrs. ago). That's when I really lost it.

You see this was my mothers favorite book. She read the Hobbit to me when I was nine years and Lord of the Rings at ten. We used to play a game, we would try to cast for the movie. We new that at the time the movie could not be made, unless it was animated, but we hoped it would be made someday. This movie has surpassed all my expectations and wildest dreams for it.

I also realize that my husband George would make a great dwarf. All he needs is the helm and armour. He's big ans short with long hair and longer beard. (The beard was braided at our wedding). And he is as sensitive and as proud of that beard as a dwarf.

Brightest Blessings and a Happy New Year.

I never thought about it like that. My mother was the one to get me started in Tolkien, and she loved it as I would read it and have questions about it.
She wouldn't have liked to see it at the Movies, but she would have wanted it on tape.
She passed 2 years ago.

But I know somewhere, in someway she will see those movies and love them.

Okay, I'm a LOTR virgin...I've never read the books (okay okay, you can STOP throwing the tomatoes now!!) and I went to see the movie on Sunday. I was, to be very blunt, BLOWN AWAY by this movie. I was very impressed...by everything...the acting, the scenery, the storyline (although I stood up with the rest of the audience and shrieked "THAT'S IT??!!!!" when the movie ended), the CAGs....everything!!

I'd go see it again (and again and again!!) in a heartbeat!!

Hee hee yes... my sister and I met for "Elevensies" when we went skiing last week... and Luncheon, Afternoon Tea.. all 6 meals :)

The Silmarillion is very different from LOTR. For one thing, in the First Age of middle earth the geography gets changed like 18 times by Valar going to war, and once more in the second age when the Numenorians get swept into the sea and Valinor is hidden.

However, a lot of the characters in the LOTR (Cirdan, Galadriel, Elrond, Cereborn... are in the stories. You also learn that 3 of the characters in LOTR are actually demigods.. I'll let you guess which ones. Also it reveals which 3 characters wore rings of power throughought the entire trilogy. And all the backstory about the Dragons, Balrogs, Silmarils, Rings of power, the nations of Elves.. well that's just gravy!

Heh, all this speak about "THAT'S IT?!" reminds me of how many people walk out of the theater going "what a crappy ending!"

When my brother went to see it, after it was over, he walked out and there were all these people moaning about the ending (as you've probably heard if you went to see it). Particularly there was one woman behind him who was going on and on about it. "What a terrible place to end a movie," said she. "I was really impressed until then. That's just awful. It was a great movie but had a horrible ending." and so forth. So my brother turns around and goes "You do know it's a series, right?" He said her face was very comical.

Needless to say, this woman had never read the books, obviously.

HallsOfAvalon

You know, I didn't get that at all. I would have turned around and said the same thing. I have a problem with everyone knowing this movie as "Lord of The Ring" too. Shouldn't they know it's "Fellowship of the Ring"!
When the "Two Towers" comes out next year, you know people are just gonna call it "Lord of the Ring Part 2".
There gonna think it's another Rocky movie when the third part comes out. Why did they promote it as "Lord of the Rings"? I can hear Tolkien rolling around in his grave right now.
Um, ok that went a little bit far.... but you get what I am saying.
