What do you think faeries are for and do? When I tried worshipping another god or spirit, specks of light started to appear to me and sister told me they were faeries, but since I'm afraid of ghost and lose sleep over them, they scared me. Even though I knew they meant no harm.

I'm afraid of ghosts too, with no real reason, but faeries, they are much different.
I'm not sure Faeries are "for" anything.. just as people as a group are not really "for" anything.. if that makes sence..
But they are generally joyful mischivious creatures who try to take care of the environment, healing it and enhanceing it's beauty. They also like to steal things, like jewelry! Faeries can be a lot of fun, you get a few nasty ones, just like people, but I've never had a bad experience with them.
If they continue to make you uneasy, hang an iron nail on your door, because they hate iron and will stay away from it.
A way to help you communicate with them is to spend a lot of time in nature, cleaning up litter is something they appreciate. They are watching, even if you can't always see them.
Another way to "speak" with them is by useing Doreen Virtue's "Healing with the Fairies" cards. I don't really like her work that much, but I must admit these card bought me a lot closer to the fae.
Hope this helps.

Well it depends on the fae really. Things like pixies might bother you, but their rarely do any lasting harm. Now if their something like the russalki I suggest running like the wind. If they didn't try to kill and/or eat you they most likely aren't the type to cause serious, long lasting harm.

I haven't seen or heard them for a while. Apparently I have a fear of the unknown. I'm sure faeries wouldn't want me to be an environmental extremist. LOL. Anyway, what about that mischeivous nature? Maybe that's what freaked me out. Hmmm.

I love faeries..Truly adore them..And I hope to build a stronger relationship with them this spring. I will be starting a garden and I will leave offerings to them so they protect and enrich my garden. Here are some links to help you out.

Not to scare you, but rather in exhaustion from hearing about modern faeries, faeries originally were both unwelcomed and unwanted, similar to demons or ghosts by the populace at large as they were viewed as sneaky, mischievous troublemakers who brought only turmoil and misfortune. It is only in modern times that people have largely accepted them and turned them into a concept of protectors and benefactors.
I personally am fond of them to a small degree, but do not trust them in the least or want them around for the most part.

also, don't confuse fairies with pixies
A Pixie is the little cute winged human-like ones.
A fairy is actually a rather broad category that includes pixies, gargoyles, imps, and quite a few other winged creatures

I also see the sparks around me alot, and when I first started working my path, It was scary because not only were all of these different elemental beings appearing to me, but it was kinda like a flood gate opening, with ghosts and spirits and such. Its definantly scary, and I'm still working on my fears, but if you want to see them, try getting rid of some of that fear so it wont block your sight. Be careful though! Fear is in us for a reason so you dont want to lose all of it just in case you come across some of the more "not so nice fae". Everyone feels diffrently if they scare you that much Mouse suggested and get that iron nail! It can be really cool to work with them too. Follow your intuition, and just keep your sheild up or some type of protection, just in case.

specks of light are quite often your own spirit guides not fae
There are hundreds of different fase (and since its come up don't confuse pixies and pixy, melaides and melaids etc etc)
There is also confusion between the suoernatural fae and folk memory fae who were actual human beings of other races

Actually, specks of light can be just about anything, from faeries to the deceased to stray energy and even including nothing spiritual in nature at all (retinal burn, anyone?).
