Hi Druids:wave: ! Sorry to bother you folks, but I need to ask if anyone knows what the magical properties of sumac are. (The sumac tree, not the poison sumac) I've searched high and low and can't find any info about it, and I had a big branch come down on my circle in the backyard after a storm that's crying out to be made into wands. Any help would be greatly appreciated......thanks:floating:

Sumac can foretell the weather and the changing of the seasons. So it would be good to use for a weather spell or in whatever solstice or equinox you thought best. Sumac has always struck me as an autumn tree though so perhaps the aumtumn equinox would be best.

I dislike crossing paths but if you are looking for information try Native American sources. The Autumn corespondence 'feels' right.

Thanks all! It did come down in an Autumn storm, too, and the leaves turn a fantastic shade of red in the fall!

I'm not a Druid, however one of my books did have that Sumac, Rhus species, is sacred to Saturn and is good for the sign of Sagitarrius [sic].
Hope that helps somewhat :|Native Americans used the red berried Sumac for stomach ailments.

As a general rule I don't like it either. But, being in North America it does good to be familar with the spirits and such that were here first. I find it to be polite anyway.
