She has a paper due for her psychology class in two days, and she can't think straight enough to finnish it! She decided to do a candle spell, but can't think of what color candle to use. So she calls you. What color do you recomend to her? Please explain why you chose this color.

Orange for healing energy. Ask Sekhmet for help. I'd also ask Djehuty for help with the psych paper: more orange. :) (Also, I'd ask for an extension on the paper cos she's sick, but maybe I'm taking it a bit too literally.)

Why? This weird colour's been on my mind lately. It's energy isn't as fast and as intense as red, nore as slow as yellow, it's determined and passionate, and like the orange fruit, to me it symbolises success, bringing things to fruition. Fruiting and whatnot.

2. Pick 3 colors. Take something that is very bold in that color (I like construction paper, but anything will do). Meditate and think on the color. Associations will come to you. List what colors you choose, and your own correspondences for that color.

(yes, I'm copying from the other thread)

Orange: fire, the sun, Djehuty, tis a weird colour. Tis giving off weird energy. Oranges-->fruit-->bringing things to their full potential, creation-harvest thing, reaping what you sow, passion and determination, different to red's passion though, longer burning, more persistent, like my cat who's trying to convince me to let her out at 11:30pm and I'm not budging Sorry to drop that in, but yeah, it just struck me. And I'm going to add Sekhmet to that as well and healing.

Green: Wesir, green things, plants, Sebek, Bast, fertility, growth, wealth -- not just material wealth, envy, jealousy, betrayal, treachery, taking things that aren't yours, living things, cats, Set to a certain extent, but not as much.

Black: Ptah, Wesir, fertility (black dirt is fertile dirt), very very earthy, raw, primaeval, deep, solid, cold and hot, solid and liquid, death to a certain extent, Yinepu, Kali-Ma, destruction, chaos, the Universe, spiralling nothingness, ancestors, the Duat, Nebt-Het, mourning, night.

Yeah. This has been fun! I'd never given serious thought to what colours actually meant to me before.

I would tell her to use brown, for study, concentration and grounding. The medicine has her mental ability all messed up. I would also tell her to use a white candle for cleansing her body of the illness and also the medicine that has her system messed up. On a side note I would recommend lemon tea with honey very hot and a good nights sleep. (sorry that's the mom in me coming out)

Red , fire heat, anger lust
yellow, warmth, peace, sunshine,
pink love

I would suggest yellow or maybe orange - for vitality, life and energy to complete her exams. Yellow is associated with the sign of Gemini - which rules over the intellect and the mind - so this color would her be able to concentrate and to learn. Yellow is connected with the life giving properties of the sun, so this would also help her to heal. I think that Orange would also work here too.

2. Pick 3 colors. Take something that is very bold in that color (I like construction paper, but anything will do). Meditate and think on the color. Associations will come to you. List what colors you choose, and your own correspondences for that color.

I have chosen the colors green, purple and blue

Green: growth, connection to nature, stability, cleansing, strength, development, calmness, groundedness, earthly material wealth, luck, fertility, renewal.

Purple: mysteries, spirituality, connection to the divine, wisdom, Godess, intuition, developing psychic gifts, royalty, spiritual wealth and growth

Blue: depth of the sea, tranquility, serenity, cleansing, altruism, purity, peace, emotions - understanding and dealing with emotions, soothing, clarity, healing and recovery from emotional scars, clarity, safety, truth.

good work! Very detailed! :D

why do you associate Bast with green? As you know, it's been recently devined that she's my mom.. so i'm working alot on those things. I see her personally as associated with reds and orages, and black. the sun and protection association for the warm colors, and the black for her more sensual **cough** side. lol Anywhoo... what makes you think of her in the green sense?

I do like your black associations!

Great job everyone!!!!

Keep thinking about these. And I recomend everyone continue making their own corresponcence lists for their personal use out of class! :D No need to go look it up in a book! :D

I used to see Her with red too, until I heard somewhere She likes green. I think it's because of Her eyes or something. Cats eyes can be green. Other than that, I don't know why She likes green. Gold and black I can understand, my cat mask for Her is painted black with gold accents. Green makes sense for some reason.

I do like your black associations!

Thanks. I just sort of wrote down everything that came to mind, thought about what the earth and the rocks are made of, how they're structured (bit of a geology nut), colours, textures, feelings, things like that. :) Twas a good exercise.

1/I don't know why, but I would recommend her blue. When I think about "health" that color comes instantly to my mind, so it would the one i would use to help her recover faster of her illness.

2/Orange: for happiness, food and to make the day sunnier.
Black: Negativity, protection, to look within myself and to improve in spiritual knowledge.
Brown: to ground and to make things stronger (for example: a friendship or an intention).

Since the medicine and the illness has her unable to concetrate I would tell my her to use a brown candle for grounding and concentrating on finishing the paper. I would also tell her to use a white candle for cleansing her system.

Last night I thought about the colors to choose and I chose yellow, red and black.

When I look at yellow I feel happiness. yellow is the color of sunshine to me which signifies happiness and light. Peace and tranquility also come from the color yellow.

Black signifies emptiness and nothingness to me. It is not bad or good. it is just nothing, erasing things, removing blocking.

Red iis for anger and heat strong emotions. Fire I know most people would say love but to me red is lust, heat passion not love.

I would also like to ask a question about a color. When I see the color orange it brings out fear in me. It is not a happy color for me. It is an angry color to me. Does anyone have any reason for this association this color?

Great work! Looks like you're starting to get the idea of how to build your correspondences!

As to why you react that way to orange... it could be anything. It could be that a bully beat you up in kindergarden wearing an orange shirt... and that's what stuck in your sub conscious. To really figure it out, you might need to see a psychologist and/or hypnotherapist. You can work it out on your own though. Try meditating on it. If you work with your ancestors, ask them. Write down a list of every *thing* that you think of when you think of orange. Write out another list of every concept or emotion that comes to mind when you think of orange. Then meditate on them.

If course... It could just be that you're allergic to the fruit. ;)

Red and puple to me are power colors, and have always been. I feel that if I am helping others, not only do they need what will work for thier purposes, but, also what shall work for the person channeling.

Silver to me is the primo all I wear is silver, and I love silver in candles. However have not noticed any special benefits from using silver candles

What color do you recomend to her? Please explain why you chose this color.

I would recomend white for cleansing and blue for healing. Im not sure I have an answer for that but I know whenever I use a candel to cleanse myself with I use white and the blue just sounds right. Like the two go together.

List what colors you choose, and your own correspondences for that color.

Orange: warmth, writing (I think of those #2 pencils from elemntary school) and high energy.

Pink: kindness, gentleness, and beauty.

Green: Money, strength, and good health.

What color do you recomend to her? Please explain why you chose this color.

I choose the color purple. Since Purple is associated with the brow chakra it invoked images of mental clarity to me and it feels like it would aid in the exam experience by intensifying concentration levels. It would also help to have your intuition working at high levels during an exam. Increasing mental power would help in visualizing your body feeling energized and healed.

Pick 3 colors. List what colors you choose, and your own correspondences for that color.

Black-mystery, power, protection(because things are usually hidden well in the dark). Fertility because dark rich soil is usually the most fertile.

Red invokes fiery images so I associated power, energy, speed, passion and anger. Fire can also be a method of cleansing so that applies here for me too.

Green- health and healing, nature related themes, growth, strength and wealth

1. A yellow candle. Yellow is one of the colours that represents air, and to me, represents thought, concentration, and imagination (all part of the element of air, at least, to me).

2. Pink - love, innocence, hope, the element of fire
Brown - balance, the element of earth, comfort (I know that last one sounds weird, but I really do associate brown with comfort, so...)
Blue - serenity/peace, element of water, change of direction, clarity

I want to encourage everyone to expand their lists. You have a full rainbow of color to work with, and you can also go the other way around, looking for colors that match an idea or goal.

Write down your lists in your BoS or similar. Use them. :)

Sorry I am late, been offline for almost a month due to family emergency out of state.
For my friend, I would suggest a blue candle for clam and healing, and a white one for purification then follow it up w ith a yellow one for learning and creativity. to write the paper.

I choose for my 3 colors, periwinkle- calming thought, centering the spirit
tangerine- cleansing, fresh
lime green- fresh as in for kitchen altars to help in imparting powers to foods?

Alright for the first part of the lesson. I would give her a few differnt things. First of besides for the candles I would instruct her to drink some Silver water. to help her normal medicines work a bit better.

Now unto the candles first off I would make her a candle that had a few calming herbs in it and a tinge of lemon, lemon to clear her mind and sharpen it and the calming herbs to make her work more accurate.

The colors

Red: Hearts blood, the color will make her blood pump stronger and clearer. It will also make her add a passion to her paper.

A grey candle: Since its a pyshcology paper she will need both sides of the story seen in the story and grey is genraly the middle ground of colors it is all the colors yet none of them all in one.

The last color would be Silver: Passion and flare to her work, not as quirky as gold but makes it have a subtlitlity people wouldnt think of.

Lesson part two:

Charcoal Grey: Middle ground al things seen , reveal hidden truths.. This color is close to me as it is associated to how I see the world. I see all sides, not just black and white I know of the grays.

Flame red:
Purity, Purifactation, protection. Destroying old to make room for the new.

White:
Clarity, Protection, Wards agaisnt evil. Blazing light that is just one side of the story.

Part 1- White candle for clarity to help her process info
and a green one for healing, makes me think of nature and what powers it has for soothing and healing.

Part 2-
Black - Protection, calming, quiet, relaxing, comforting. Black is probably my most used (thought hardest to find in candles) and Favorite makes me feel safe.
Yellow - Warm, cleansing, new
Purple - Passion, expressive, intrigueing
Red - Secret, separative, power, dangerous, flashy. This is my least favorite I feel I have to be so careful when using this color.

Brown to help in concentration and study. Yellow for learning. However white would do great too because it helps in gaining clarity and many people will have at least a white candle somewhere in their possession. Brown isn’t a popular color unless . . . you’re a Witch! [smiles] I would recommend black to banish the illness away.

2. Pick 3 colors. Take something that is very bold in that color (I like construction paper, but anything will do). Meditate and think on the color. Associations will come to you. List what colors you choose, and your own correspondences for that color.

Purple – royalty, vivaciousness, energy, happiness, inner strength, success, individualism, mysterious
Gold – money, wealth, success, accomplishment, power, goals
Orange – health, vitality, fun, gregariousness, exercise, childlike

I know I am not signed up for this class, and I don't need to be, but I would like to follow along with the lessons. I have recently become more interested in candle magik.

Without looking at anything, I would say that "Kim" should use a color she sees as healing. I would personally use a green-ish yellow candle because my associations with colors are such that green means growth and yellow is my favorite color so it automatically puts me in a better mood. I have also been known to use blue candles for emotional healing and protection -- two uses that are co-dependent in my opinion.

As for the second question:

Peach-pink: calming influences, raising ability to assert oneself, emotional warmth

White: purity, cleansing, rememberence of dead loved ones, rebirth

Yellow: intellectual pursuits, happiness, confidence
