Does anyone know a good book or website that has descriptions of Native American Spirits/Gods & Goddesses?
I'm especially looking for information about one called Misink.

Thanks for the help guys. I was looking for this information because since I'm part Iriquois, my friend suggested I should think about learning Shamanism. I haven't decided if I'm going to or not, but I want to find out more about NA deities. I was introduced to a few of them but not many.
Misink is a Lenne Lenape deity. I was given a necklace with him on it and I want to find out more about him.
Thanks for the links too. :)

Cool! I dated a Cherokee in high school. Unfortunately, he'd been adopted by white people who didn't tell him anything about his heritage except that he was NA, better off "white" & (insert typical anti-NA b.s. here).
I started to read all the NA lit I could find. I started handing him books & telling him "You'd know this if you didn't buy into that
'the only good Indian...' b.s."
Needless to say, that relationship fizzled fast, but both he & I learned a lot of neat & powerful stuff.
For example...the Iroquois was not a tribe, but a political confederation of five tribes (Cayuga, Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, & Seneca). The Iroquois League was formed to protect member tribes from hostile tribes, but mostly from white "colonists".
I recall reading somewhere that the U.S Constitution was based on the constition of the Iroquois League.
If you ever really "get into" NA hisory & politics, I suggest anything written by Vine Deloria Jr. who wrote about how badly the U.S. has teated its' native peoples.
For pure entertainment, try the music of Robert Mirabel, a member of the Taos Pueblo. His "Music from a Painted Cave" show is often run during fundraising season on PBS. Great stuff!

My mom and I are Native American. I'm 1/2 Nanticoke. I'm pretty sure that the Lenne Lenape where from NJ. I'll go look for some of my mom's books and tell you the authors ... they might not be a big fact book about the NA Deities (sp?), but they should have some spirituality in them.
Ehh, I only found two, Mary Summer Rain and "Beacon". Sorry, hope they help though.
