Ok, this is really weird! The other day, I purchased some incense and laid it on my bed and fell asleep. When I woke up, I couldn't find it. I thought that it had rolled off or gotten caught up in the covers. I searched and searched even tore the bedding off and shook it to see if the incense was there. No luck. I figured that I had just overlooked it and it would turn up on the floor. Last night, I looked up on one of my dressers and one of my candles was missing, again I searched and searched, but can not find it. When I crawled into my bed, lo and behold, there was the incense that had been missing for 3 days! It was right there in the open, no way I could have missed it, especially not when I took all of the bedding off and shook it out! Now, my candle is still missing,Maybe it will turn up in the next 2 days. Has this type of thing ever happened to any of you. If so, what was it? My father died a couple of years ago and my grandmother just died in Sept. Do you think it's their way of communicating with me? I need answers! Thanks.

This has happened to me lots of times and is very frustrating. Not sure if it's due to spirit activity or ESP or just a bad habit of losing things. Get yourself another candle 'cause you might never find the one thats gone.

Some folks blame it on the fae/faeries. They recommend asking politely for the item(s) to be returned, and may offer something like a dish of milk or something sweet in exchange. I used to have a small spirit living in my house and would have things vanish and reappear. Every so often I would pour out a small dish of Bailey's Irish Creme liquour and we got along pretty well.

We had what we called the Shoe ghost at my mothers house. It would take your shoes. You would get them back in the weirdest places a couple of days later. Like on your pillow or in the laundry hamper. It took my cds once and put them in the freezer!
I was asking my mom the other day if she had anything happen with the Shoe ghost lately. She said, no not since you moved out. It just so happens, I have had the same problem since I moved out. I didn't even think that it would have followed me. So now my mom calls it my ghost. lol
Normally these spirits are just pranksters and can be fun. You just have to ask for your stuff and you will get it back. The most common thing we have come up missing is the remote for the tv. We find it in the bathroom, the fridge, the trash can, in pillow cases.... You name, it has been there.

We'd get along pretty well, too, if you gave me Bailey's!

As I understand it, the drink or eat the 'spirit' from the liquor or the food. If you taste it after it's been left out all night for the faeries or spirits, it tastes very flat and unflavorful. More so than simply leaving it sit out would account for.

It happens around here alot we blame the wood spirits that come inside in
the winter cause that is when it usually happens, they are just playing any way but if you really need it and ask nice, and leave a treat you usually get it back, if not I always scry for it and usually find it, that way in the weirdest places!

I had a necklace that I put in a special little dish that I kept my jewelry in...well, I put this necklace in that little dish, and it disappeared...for a year. I tore the room apart looking for it, dumped the little dish out I don't know how many times and went through it...only to find it in the little dish over a year later. I attribute it to the fairies.

Thanks everyone! Guess I need to go and get some Bailey's! Just got home from work, and the candle is still missing. I'm sure it will turn up sometime. Do you think they'll get mad if I help them drink the Bailey's? lol:floating:

Traditionally folks would leave a dish of milk on the doorstep. I just didn't think I was actually dealing with what you'd call a faerie, so I tried a little bigger bribe.
And sure, you can pour two small glasses and offer your 'house guest' a toast. ;)

Well it seems to me that this spirit or whoever is taking things that they probably like, so instead of offering milk you could offer a little of that incence.. in a "If i share you wont need to steal" kind of way. If you have the room you could even set up a little space for you to share things.
take cares,

Gnomes - they do it to me all the time. If they take your electrical stuff, beware though - they tend not to return them. They like things that smell nice and look nice (like jewellery and watches). And they usually get returned in the 2-5 day period. If your candle hasn't returned by day 5, then it's probably gone (like the electrical stuff).. although I have had things returned to me in a month and on the rare occasions in a year.

i defintely blame the fae, they are awful in my house but i did give them permission to live with me so i should understand there are going to be consequences:lol:
just ask them nicely to return your things and usually they do within half an hour in my house:)

We have it happen so much around here...But I'm convinced my house is a portal for spirits to come and go...and we have a resident ghost...I just hope for the best and things usually show back up in a few days to a few months...Altho I'm sorely missing a small black earring that went missing a month or so ago... bring it back please.......

Things go missing all the time for me. Usually if I ask for it back it turns up within a few days, usually after I don't need it anymore. I never really knew who took them and faeries never really crossed my mind but I always say thank you and I suppose they appreciate that.

I don't know why exactly, but it activity like this seems to come in spurts. Several things can go missing or electrical appliances can malfunction for a couple of day or a couple of weeks, and then everything gets quiet for a few months. And just when you've forgotten about the whole thing.......

I'd go with the spirits myself, because this kind of thing happens to me often. Do you work with the elementals at all. their notorious for doing these types of thing as well. Dont worry most of the things show back up, but usually in weird spaces.:)

Right now, I am just in the learning stages. I feel that I am open to all things. I have had a great meny things happen in my past that involved spirits and the like. This is different though, whatever it is, isn't scaring me this time! The last scary episode happened to me several years ago and it tormented me a great deal. I think now that I am developing my skills these types of things will continue to occur.

Traditionally it's milk and sweet cakes.
I've never been much on tradition.
I like to make my own traditions.
And the Bailey's was just sitting there...
