I had a wonderful Yule. I went to my Mother-in-law's house and did the ritual there with the whole family. It was a real success. They want to make it a family tradition. My mother-in-law wants to help lead it next year. Also, they asked me to lead them in the other rituals in the wheel of the year. I am so excited!!!!!
So, how was everyone's Yule? Did your rituals go well? Do tell!

I co-lead a ritual with one of my best friends. It was great! The meal afterwards was awesome! We had to hold it in my kitchen as it's the biggest room in my apartment, and it just looked so mystical, I can't get over it!! We sang and chanted....the Oak King slayed the Holly King....quite a sight! ;) Company didn't leave my home until near 6am! (the ritual started at 8 pm and lasted just over an hour)

Delightful, Dryad. It was a quiet little assembly after school. Although there should have been more of us, it was still fun. We formed the circle, sat in our elements, reflected on the past, and speculated on the future.
Very sedate. But sedation is peace and peace leads to wisdom. Eh?

It was a very quiet night for us. Both hubby & I had to work that day...Yule isn't a recognized religious holiday here! :D Anyway, we had a nice ham with all the trimmings. After dinner we lit our Yule log that we decorated. My son got to do the honours this year & he was so proud! Our ritual was very quiet & informal. Later that night, I went outside & planted my holly berries to honour the return of the sun. It was very nice.

Sorry for the late post, I just joined MW a few days ago. You really want to know? My sons are 18 an 20 and I've been open with them about my new path for the past year. This year I feel they're ready to share a little in my pagan ways. I prepare a little history thing about the real origin of Yule, decide to do a wishing tree instead of the traditional tree and having a small candle-lighting ritual - just a little bit off the beaten path of the Yules they've been used to. The 18 year old still lives at home and the 20 year old is married. The 18 year old brought his girlfriend. Right before they all got here, I prepared our sacred space, the living room, with frankincense and myrhh incense. The 20 year old walked in and started sneezing his head off - apparently he's allergic to it. The 18 year old is acting like a five year old while I'm trying to give them my little 3 minute presentation, and breaks his chair. I gave them all drums and rattles to use while we made a "joyful noise" and they didn't have a clue what to do, but eventually got into it. They did enjoy tying their wish ribbons on the tree. We proceeded to have a good dinner and good family time. The 18 year old later told me that I would make a good teacher.
They weren't here when I burned their ribbons in a private ritual. I think I'll have to skip the incense next year but I do think they can tolerate the wish tree again.

sounds like you all had fun, and a lot of family stuff too. . . yay!
for me, yule was pretty much the only kickass day of this holiday season. my honey and i both got tattoos of symbols with a lattice that have all the rune staves contained within the design (his a snowflake and mine a triangle). while i was getting the tat, i went through a visionary initiation through the Well--one of the most intense voyage experiences ive ever had. i was so saturated with wonder that i couldnt do the whole ritual i had planned, just called the Elementals and gave thanks to the Teutonic deities . . . very simple and touching. and now my sun is coming back! YAH!

Don't you love journeys like that? I had one once where I met the goddess across a bridge in the woods and several weeks later found a painting by a local artist that was the exact picture of my vision. I'm looking forward to going to New Moon Lodge tomorrow night - I have had some Fantastic Voyages there!
