A simple question...

Alright, this is semi-stupid on my part. :geez:
Tonight the moon has a wonderful circle around it (at least in my area) and for some reason I can not remember what it is called!!!

I feel like such an idiot but does anybody know what it is called?
The circle looks like a large cloud formation around it.

A halo around the moon, I didn't think of putting it that way but that is exactly how it looked.

I tried to get a picture of it but my camera didn't get the right image. :(
I could only get the moon itself but not the 'halo'.

i had an album about 30 years ago by Scarlet Rivera, a marvelous violinist who was mostly known for her work with Bob Dylan, EmmyLou Harris, etc. but this solo album had a song on it called 'Ring Around the Moon', and the lyric began...

"Legend has it that when there's a ring around the moon, all the elves and fairies come out to play their flutes and violins..."

yeah, well whatever. but it really was a good album despite the hokey lyrics (no really, it was!).

Earlier this week around here in my neck of the woods the moon had a beautiful rainbow like circle around it.

Also when someone else brought this same topic up someone said that the ring was also refered to as the moons aura not sure how true that is but thought I would add it here anyways.
