shoot I'm sorry. I started this here then decided to move it to another window in gems and crystals and I forgot and pressed post. sorry to those who move threads!

I'm just curious. I am really sensitive to energies including antique stores which I go in only rarely and especially metel. One that particularly gets me is steel. Like I'm okay with cars but if there is a spot of rust and I go near it I have to shield and I still feel all sick to my stomach. But its different and I'm thinking its b/c its probably different alloys.

I went to house on the rock and there is a room with industrial pots and gigantic wierd metel things and I had to completely shield and went through as fast as possible. Sometimes it makes me feel like stuffp ressing all around me and like someone is reaching into my stomach and twisting it just to be in rooms especially where is the industrial stuff. I am okay with some knives that are steel and I do have a spear that is made out of steel that really doesn't affect me too much. Of course I am thinking I have certain low tolerance levels and the finishing seems to make a difference.

I believe steel does pull energy and is very grounding..I know hematite usually doesn't stay long around. though I've had someone tell me before I learned how to refine my energy standing by me was to have a huge amount of energy beating on them that they could feel about 4-5 feet away before it started to lesson. this was when I was young and didn't really care about shielding and such. He said hemetite didn't like me b/c the energy was too much for him.

I know they say some ppl have 'allergies' to stones and they dont work well with people. Amythst and me is one of those. Though I have one piece of amythst from a friend that tolerates me. :) it looks dyed and is really heavy and rough. I think it is chevron amythst?

anyway I got off track. anyone ideas about the steel?

just a side note.

ypi posted that you dont liek amethyst on the ametrine thread. and that the ametrine you like is light purple only.

now the mineral, that makes the purple colour in amethyst is iron.

just as iron is in steel

was just something i noticed

Oh you are so right. I remember that from Geology in college. So yes indeedy, if Shaman Feather does not do well with amethyst, stands to reason steel is going to make her feel bad. It is like very loud noise for me, it just kills me psychicly. I tend to shy away from any place that has too much amplified noise. So steel is like that to her.

Hmmm sad, that anyone could be allergic to stones.

That is really fascinating!! I wonder if that one piece that I do have has something strange to it. The guy who gave it to me did so because it took a liking to me, though anyone who holds it generaly hears batman cause he cleansed it while watching that cartoon :p

its odd that my reaction to steel is often one of mild panic, maybe a past life thing??

also I have a thing against red jasper generally. is there a connection with iron in that?

come to think of it. does anyone know what properties are supposed to be associated with iron? I wonder if it reflects something about me mentally, physically or otherwise?

well iron in general was considered tabboo especially in Greek temples. there were a lot of no-no's about this minerial. It was also used to ground people and closing down pyschic centers. Steel which is iron based has different metaphysical properties. and some iron based items as well. What's got me curious is you have no problems with amethyst which has iron in it,but have problems with hematite?

You would think so. The darker the purple the more iron content. Shaman must be allergic. What happens with other purple stones Shaman??

Hematite will stay with me for about 2 hours. then it disappears or I have a great urge to get it away from me as fast as possible. I actually have very few purple anything cause the color also seems to make me feel very quelched. Though lately I've been less sensitive to it. Charoite is purple and I wore that for a week cause I was told it may help with my migraines but it actually gave me one with intense pain in my shoulders. I took it off and within 2 hours the pain was mostly gone after it had persisted for days. I havent really had any other purple stones.

I was trying to do some searches for iron in other crystals. Looks like the red in bloodstone is iron oxide and that doesn't bother me. I dont know which other stones have iron in them. I'm wondering if I'm decently ok with low levels of iron but not higher levels. I've been paying attention the last couple of days and I noticed I try not to touch anything metel. I dont actually like to eat with metel utensils either. Wierd eh?

red jasper is red because it containes iron-oxide.

so the connectiopn is clearly there

as for lightdaragon: yes you and Dragonsinger are right:
the more iron is inside the amethyst, the deeper is its colour. best example to show is the amethyst from india, which is almost black. it is very richj in iron

I don't have pierced ears so I'm not sure. though when I did I tried to stay away from the nickel.

I don't have problems with any iron-based stones other than hematite. Hematite makes me break out into a rash or hives after about 10 minutes of contact. I can't stand to hold the stuff, either. It's just nasty.
