(i live in same house as her) and gave her the rest for food, she had to borrow food off her mom cos she had no money to buy any, but she has been crying cos she cant give the girls and xmas this year, i dont want that to happen and i cant think of anything to do for them at all i been busting my brain for 3 days, i made decorations with the kids and the house looks nice now and it cheered them up for a couple of hours. anyone know wat i can do to let them have a christmas this year?

Let them make gifts, like we made in grade school, out of boxes and paper and stuff around the house, if you think real hard there is alot of things they can make with like foil jewerly, decks of cards, empty bottles can be filled with baby oil and a few weeds {pretty of corse} or herbs and such for bath oil, more decorations like pie pan ornament and snowflakes, boxes can be colored and decorated for trinket boxes, coloring books can be made from paper and a magic marker then tied or stapled togther Walla a coloring book! and so forth, at least they may be some gifts they can make and give away. let them sing and dance tell them the stories of Christmas passed, back in the old days they couldnt just run to the store to 'buy" gifts they had to rely on their imagination and what they had
also check and see if your community or thier church has any programs to help with the food issue and maybe they have santas helpers too

Also try the Salvos love, they help during xmas sometimes. Bake some biscuits and cakes. Make your crackers for the table. You can do it with some paper and make the party hats and all. And do what ever you can to make xmas dinner special. Sometimes the best times are the ones we make ourselves and not what we buy for people. HUGS.

I can only agree with Astara and Dragonsinger. Maybe you can make this Christmas different by just being with them, maybe (I'm trying not to sound like some cheesy greeting card) that's the best present they could have right now. Just some company from people who care about them.

Those are wonderful ideas.

Sometimes the best things are home-made.

You can even add games to go with the presents that you've made. One family I know of has to put on a performance of some kind (singing, speech, juggling act...whatever) before they can choose a present and the next person can choose to steal someone else's present or pick one from the pile. This continues until all the presents are chosen. They have a wonderful time and in the end no one cares about the presents, they just remember the great time they had.

You could also go volunteer at a soup kitchen, old folks home, extended care wing at the hospital or an animal shelter. It will make you all feel good to help someone else have a good christmas and help the kids (and you and mom) to see that although things might not be as you wish, they really aren't so bad.

I hope things turn out okay for you.

Blessings. :hugz: :boing:

I've done white elephant where you go through your stuff and find somethign thats still good that you dont want and then everyone does that and exchanges. its fun. you usually pick numbers and ppl can take a new one or steal. its fun.

All wonderful ideas! And you should also try going to the local Fire Stations, and Salvation Army depots, and they may have a program for children, we have it here, they give a gift to each child, and also they have Holiday dinners. You are a good friend, Goddess Bless!

I've got a cd burner and lots of extra cd's here, it might not get there right in time for Christmas, but I could burn some cd's for you if you want.
As for everyone else's ideas, I think homemade presents that you have to work on are the best ones. Especially when they're made by little hands who worked so hard on them.

Sock puppets can be alot of fun to make and play with and maybe you could write a special play for them to put on for Mom. Some of my favorite memories of x-mas are the ones when money was short and imagination long.
