wow, that sounds like it has to be pretty special. Every Sunday we make "Family Dinner" and our whole extended family comes, and we have appitizers, four courses and dessert.... so... here are a few old favorites, maybe they will help, maybe they aren't special enough....

Tomatoe and Olive Tapenade
1 plum tomato
1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives
1/2 small onion
2teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1Tablesppon olive oil
1 clove galic
pepper to taste
Slap it all in a blender and buzz. Ok.. now I know it looks prett scary, but put it in a pretty bowl topped with a few olives and perhaps some finely diced tomato. Serve it with sliced french bread. The key is good quility oil, and good quality balsamic.

the other easy one that springs to mind....

Tomato Brushette

6 tomatoes chopped
1/2 cup fresh basil chopped
3 cloves of garlic diced fine
2Tablespoons olive oil

Mix it all put and let sit at room temp 1 hour or more. At the party spoon it on sliced tuscan bread, top with a bit of fresh parmensean and broil it til bread toasts.

If you want something, quick, fairly inexpensive and really easy to fix...try this:

Get a package of those little smokie cocktail sausages and some various condiments...if it's not very far to the party, go ahead and heat the sausages as directed on the package and keep them in a warming container. Once at the party, place those out, with the condiments like, mustard, bbq sauce, ketchup, etc. around them....they are great little snacks! If it will be a little ways to the party, kindly ask if you may use the microwave when you get there...doesn't take long to heat the sausages...and instant appetizers!!!!

Or, you can purchase different snack crackers...and some various cheeses, if you have a little bit more of a budget to spend....go ahead and prepare them and place them on a plate! Cover with plastic wrap...and go to the party.

There's always the stand-by; pigs in a blanket! Small sections of hot dogs wrapped in those refrigerator crescent rolls!!!!

Sounds like you didn't need our help! That's an excellent dish to bring and can be used for dessert or appetizer!

BUMP - These are some good ideas, as most people bring food to holiday parties between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Any others?
