I have the worst memory! Does anybody know of an herb or supplement that can help? I have long term and short term memory problems---and my sister is the same way. Can these things be genetic?

I don't know about memory loss but Omega 3 is supposedly very good for concentration. So is rosemary (herb and essential oil) and melissa.

I forget but I think Ginku Biloba is supposed to help improve blood flow to the brain and thereby memory. Gotu Kola is somewhat similar. Forgive the spellings on the words. I must go out and get some:rolleyes:

All that has been posted thus far is exactly what I would recommend...Ginseng also aids the mind.

i totally support the omega 3's and the rosemary.

memory problems can be genetic, but you can improve your memory by taking any piece of information you want to remember and relating it to a few things you already remember. it will be a pain in the ass conscious effort, but become second nature after a while.

If you want to remember memories that you have completely forgotten, like from early childhood try Hemia salicifolia. Allthough too much use is not good.

Ginkgo Biloba is recommended for improving memory and other mental processes. There appears to be some clinical evidence in support of this. The proposed mechanism is the herb's ability to improve blood flow to the brain.

I have A.D.D. and have always experience memory problems, it's been a trial all my life. I began taking Omega3 (fish oil) capsules a couple of months ago and am amazed at how much better I can remember and focus and think clearly now. I've heard good things about Ginko Biloba as well, but I believe it has anti-clotting properties so if you're already taking a blood thinner of any kind, even aspirin, this could cause problems, for instance if you have an ulcer.
