if it's not too personal, how did you come up with your craft name?

I think it is different for everyone. For me I started looking at things that have meaning to me, like the elements, my sun and moon sign, different Gods and Goddesses I was interested in ect... I came up with one and something in me knew it wasn't a permanent one. Anyway.. the night of my initiation into my coven I was doing a meditation and my new craft name came to me: Rayne SilverFire..although.. I just go by SilverFire, the Rayne part is for the Lord and the Lady only.
I hope this helps!!!

My craft name is Marius Morningstar.

Marius was derived from the name of one of my Frisian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisians) ancestors on my mother's side of my family -- Rintje. From Rintje, I derived Marinus, and then I removed the "n" so that the name suited me numerologically.

Morningstar is a name that had already been with me. It is a reference to the latin word lucifer, bringer of light, and is also a reference to the planet Venus, the element Phosphorus, illumination, etc.

I just made it up. I don't know that there was anything unusual that happened. Once I had the name I knew was right, I then did an numerology comparison on it and it happened to coincide with my real name, and voilÃ, my pagan name.

I go by Aislin Ryann online and in my study group, but it isn't my Magic name. Aislin Ryann is a name my sister gave me. Poetic little leader is a rough translation. My magic name that I use in circle, was sent to me through meditation by my Lord and Lady. Nakia Faye. Nakia is Egyptian for Pure, faithful and Faye is french for fairy or elf. Faithful Fairy is what it means to me. :)

My craft name just recently came to me and I have been on my Spiritual path for about 4 years now. I saw the name on a book and it hit me that it was the name for me. I have recently added something to it and the rest of my name was given to me by a name generator.

Chrestomancie is my online/screen name. I use it everywhere online as it is very rarely used...

Oh, you should have called yourself Lucifer! that would have wound a few people up!!

Kalika

Mine is Kalika - meaning 'daughter of Kali', as Kali is my patron.

Also a huge fan of the Christopher Pike books, but I started using the name before I read them.

Aria Silverfyre
December 28th, 2005, 01:57 PM
I started off with Aria Silverfyre as my name but it didn't quite seem to fit, so I use it now as my online name. My real craft name started out as me adopting a name from one of Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles", mostly as a joke. However, when I was called by it in a dream, I knew that Akasha was the right name for me. I haven't officially chosen a second name/surname, but Fireraven seems to fit well.

...since I'm a draconist, and I'm not getting any younger... :hahugh:

But for the most part I just use my real first name. It sort of just fits...and besides, at my age it's all I can do to remember my bank PIN number, my HMO number, and my eBay password..."Um, who am I now??"

I was originally Willow FalconSong. Willow is 'my' tree, always has been. Falcon's symbolize a strong spirit and freedom, and I was minorly obsessed at the time. And I'm a singer. It ... fit. Some time later, it no longer felt like me... so I didn't use one.

Now I have been named through the House of Netjer as Ankhetbast, meaning "Bast lives" or "Life in Bast". Bast is my spiritual mother (simplified).

I don't have a name especially for magic, I just use my nickname.. Which was given to me by my mother when I was younger. :)

I sat down and made mine up. I knew that I wanted something in Japanese (I'm completely obsessed, and plan on moving to Japan one day. Plus, I believe that I was Japanese in my past life). So I picked up my Japanese dictionary and started looking around at words that appealed to me.

I compiled a list of words that I liked, paired them up however I felt and picked the ones that I liked the best. (I had a few english names, and while I really did like them, the Japanese ones called to me more.)

I ended up with "Taki Yume". I've always loved the name "yume" ("dream"), and "taki" ("waterfall") called to me because its constantly flowing. I don't know if that makes any sense or not, but in my mind's eye I see a waterfall as never-ending or something. Since I'm such an idealist and a day-dreamer, it seemed to fit.

Sometimes I think that this is a permenant name, and sometimes not. Once I figure out my Path and what I prefer to practice, I may (or may not) change it.

Being randomly compulsive with technicalities I don't call myself a shaman. I am not a member/preist of any tribe or indigenous people's. But most of my practices are shamanistic but I'm not wiccan. So I just summerize the art of my magick with the term soul craft.

I have more than one name, actually, and use different ones for different purposes.

When I'm working with friends in Circle or in tandem for other purposes, I use Xaverri Taro. It's a very old nickname of mine that holds power, now, with friends who use it for me.

When working solitary spellcraft I either use Felis Sorror or Azar WinterCrow depending on what I'm doing.

I came up with my name whilst casting about for things I liked. When I was younger I came up with a VERY 'cool' name, but I will not mention it for the sake of my dignity.

My current name, Morrigan Wolfwind, is a combination of things I like. The Morrigan is my favorite goddess, wolves are my favorite animals, and wind/air is my favorite element. I double checked it with numerology, because numerology is fun. It's the same as my destiny number, which is 3.

And that's how I chose my name.

Through meditation, it just popped into my head before that. I didn't recognise it though.
