For those of you who live in GTA (Greater Toronto Area), do you know of any good Metaphysical stores here - I live 30mins. West of Toronto. I don't want to travel that for for a store that I don't know if it is a good shop or a hole in the ground pretending to be a good shop. I would travel anywheres upto an hour West/East etc for a store. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

I am sorry if this doesn't belong here, but I can't think of any place this could go for Newbies like my self.

Try looking on WitchVox for places near you...I've heard that's a good place to start.

Witchvox is a great answer!

As far as online outlets...Mysticwicks has a Public Marketplace where you can look over people from MW who have things to sell and MWAuctions too.

Grocery stores - Herbs

Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks, etc. - Books, tarot

OH My darling we have tonnns down here! I am currently iin the country but there are plenty you can go too, Im a student at Humber College...I'll give you the names as I can't think of the addresses right now...lets see:

Gifts of the Earth : On the Danforth a few blocks down from Chester Stn. I went there a few weeks ago with ym friend chris and they sell a lot of crystals. It Isnt wiccan perse, but it does have listings of the magical properties for each stone as well as fossils!

Occult Shoppe: On Vaugn Road 2 blocks west of the St. Clair subway stn. It is the home of the Wiccan Chursh of Canada and has tons of books, as well as a few crystals, lots of candles and a few other items.

Wicca Shoppe: I havnt gone here myself, actually going there next friday. I've been told its Queen Street East, but Im sure you can find it online...right down in the east end. They sell a lot of herbs I hear...but other than that Im not sure...they DO have a website though so a google search could produce soemthing.

Metanoia: It's actually on Bond street in Oshawa, a friend of mine owns and runs it. He sells crystals, statues and other items. A LOT OF STONES! lol. If your planning on going out that far, there are other really nice stores in oshawa, Im sure my friend Rahim can help you...he has a website soemwhere.

There are also the shops down on Spadina which sell crystals and rocks as well, they are not metaphysical but the stones there are used in much the same way as wiccans use them.

Half of these are not listed on Witchvox, so looking on there isnt always the best answer...Ill try and get the addresses for you and PM you when Im done, it's soemthing to have for myself as well :D. Dont hesitate to message me, Im right now getting ready to put together a list of resources for my freinds right now. You aren't out walkerton way are you?...there are a few stores up in Grey/Bruce/Wellington county if it's close to you.

Thanks everyone. I have previously looked on WV but there really isn't anything for me at this time. But that list is awesome. I saw some crystals in Green Earth, however they were either really big or really small. My journey continues!

The Occult Shop is run by the Wiccan CHurch of Canada. Of all the witchy stores I've been in in Toronto, it's the best. The Wicca Shop is the worst, as their prices are something I like to call 'insane'. If you're looking for herbs, GO TO THE OCCULT SHOP if you can't find it at Bulk Barn or the grocery store. Just down the street from the Wicca Shop is Copper Dreams, which has a large and diverse stock and a great collection of books.
The Occult SHop has a collection of books that knocked my socks off - I mean, I was literally in ecstacies. They had High Magic's Aid AND Gerald Gardner: Witch! Egad!
If you're up for a bus ride, Hamilton has Ways To Wisdom, which is OK except for stones (terribly overpriced) and there's harmony downtown, which is where you go for stones.

Oooo copper dreams...I have heard of that just forgot about it :D. *adds to list of places to visit..." :D As for the Occult Shoppe, I disagree...it's ok for books and herbs, but not stones...have seen much cheaper stones elsewhere. We also have a psychic convention up at the International Center about 4 times a year if you're interested...it's always got really cheap stones...a friend of mine bought about 25 Singings crystals there for 50 cents each, and they were quite large crystals!!!

Oooh when is the convention and how do I find out about it? I think I remember hearing about it last year but I worked shift work then and so does my husband so it was impossible to go. Please do tell:boing:

There you are hun, or better yet www.esp888.com

When I went there last, Ive gone a few times...I got a reading combo for 60 dollars...there are a load of psychics there usually (although not all of them are real, have a good look around), a church of scientology dianeics experiament, a Satya Sai Baba information table, aromaptherpy, massuse, classes on nUmerology tarot psychic abilities and the like, as well as tons of tables selling crystals, books and everything else. There were a few tables from a shop from Chinatown selling Buddhist and Daoist amulets and stones used in that area of the world. Really interesting time :D. The first time I ever went, Iw ent with a few friends I dotnr eally talk to right now but we all got a Chakra/Aura reading using this machine that read the heat in our hands...and then a 25 minute run down of what the colours in the aura meant and why soem parts were faded...Interesting, although just a bit of fun. The classes are quite good as well. The next one should be February or april soemtime.

Copper Dreams is great. It has lots of stones, statues, tarot cards and lots of other Pagan and new age goodies, and its on Queen Street east (very very east). Wiccashop is just down the street, like someone else said, and i havent been in there. The Occult Shop is great for the rare books you can\t find anywhere else. Their book selection is huge!! I like thier incense too, its the only place I can find frankincense. It's on Vaughn street off St. Clair West.
