This is just my thoughts on this, so take them for what you will. I get a buzzing/humming feeling there when my psychic abilities are stirring up. They are normally "on", but if they are getting super charged for some reason, it buzzes. I, personally, think it is my third eye chakra opening. Mine is over active, according to some tests. Sometimes the buzzing leads to terrible headaches for an hour or two. I have found some meditation on closing the chakra up some helps quite a bit. Don't close it off, just make the opening smaller. After that, the buzzing subsides. I don't know if this helps you out or not.

Sounds like the third eye chakra is opened.
This is known as the third eye, a chakra or center. Scienctific research has shown that there are certain points throughout the body where there is a higher concentration of electromagnetic energy. These are the "chakras". The Seven main chakras run along the spine. These centers are often imbalanced, too much or not enough of something, it could also suggest that the corresponding body parts/organs have a problem. Sit or lay in a comfortable place and focus on visualizing this area on your head. Write down what you see. Do this once a day or every other day. Let me know what you discover.

I will have to concur with it being your third eye. When I first began opening my own it was quite painful, but completely natural. Much like someone who keeps their eyes shut for most of their life and then tries to open them, it will be painful. There is new information being received, varying degrees of light reflected and it can cause headaches.

What was most common for me and for a few others that have mentioned it in my presence is a burning sensation occuring at first or more prominently at first, followed by extreme pressure.

Be patient, keep working with it or close it off if you wish. Either way it will go away. Your third eye is simply adjusting to being opened in full force.

I don't much about magic, as i'm still a beginner, but like what others have said, it sounds like the 3rd eye is opening or opened. I don't know much about the chakra's (there are others that can probably help you more) but this site deals with them and tells you how to open the 3rd eye http://www.whywiccanssuck.com/learn3.html, it's actually a great course and can teach you a lot of things about basic (& some advanced) witchcraft.

Hope i've helped.

Becareful about your research, if you learn how each chakra is "supposed" to look and feel you will experience them that way as opposed to how they really are. Do some meditation on your centers before you begin your research so your vision isn't clouded by "supposed to's"

That's about where your "Third Eye" or brow chakra is located, and its a source of psychic energy. What you could be feeling is this opening up or awakening to whatever it is that you are doing at the time during your meditation.

My boyfriend likes to put his finger about an inch away from my face in front of the 3rd eye chakra. Every time, I feel a wierd sort of pressure, even when I don't know he's doing it, like when I'm taking a nap on the couch and I'm not quite asleep, and he'll do that to me to see if I feel it (and I do).

since your ajna chakra point has developed naturally this would be the
absolute perfect time for you to stop doing any kind of research on the
chakras and to learn through experimentation.
holding a hand in front of the chakra point is one way of activating it,
another method is to put a flat "point facing upwards",quartz, amythest, agate or really any other stone that you like hell even a regular rock you find outside works onto the chakra point and while meditating learn to "see" through that chakra point.
you should be in for many pleasant surprises by these exercises :)

Thank you all for your very prompt replies! ((hugs))

Yes I am quite familiare with the chakras, I've been working with mine since about October 2004. Guess I will do a little more exploration, thank you all for the information and the nifty links!

My third eye never hurts when it starts to "hum" but the feelings are really strong.

It's also good to know others have experienced this too, glad to know I don't have some weird sinus problem or something. lol
