Has anyone ever made contact with their spirit guide?

leonora
December 30th, 2005, 05:53 AM
yes i have, her name is emma and she died in the 18th century. i use her for guidance and she always warns me of bad things before they occur.
she also helped me recently with a spirit that resides in a freinds house and i described the spirit to a t with her aid. it was so freaky cause it was the first time i had ever done anything like that.

How did you meet her and how do you know her name? I think my Guide really wants to communicate with me.

she just came to me, i had a feeling something wasn't right with me caus of things i can do, but i did a ritual one night asking for my spirit guide to come forward and she did, two days later. i was sat at the pc when she just popped into my head and said 'hello i am emma and i am your spirit guide, what would you like to know'?

Yes I've met several of mine (outgrown a few as well)

I have a few - some are animal energies. I found them through astral work and meditation. Of course, the focus of the astral and meditation was to communicate with them because I could sense them but not really. Make sense?

For the wolf I did a full out three day fasting vision quest when I was much younger.

You could create a spirit guide ritual also. Calling the elements and placing symbols in each elementn and then call on the spirits to help you see before going in a deep meditative state. When I want to do serious communication that is what I do. Burn patchouli or frankensence incense but that is because those two scents help me meditate - you may prefer to burn a different scent.

Choose the words to reflect you and your needs - even play music that helps you go into a trance like state.

It has been my experience that, to communicate, one must place themselves outside of the physical.

But again, that is me and others may have methods that differ and would work better.

You know, earlier in my spiritual journey, I attempted contact. I felt it was unsuccesful. However, not long ago, I had an angel reading (I don't know how many of you believe in angels or think of them as guides). I was told of her name then. But that's about it. I never did any of my own sort of contacting after my first few attempts. And I'm okay with that because I feel that it was most likely not time to make contact. Things happen at certain times for a reason.

So if there are those out there who are getting frustrated, if you feel you should keep going, then do so. And if you don't feel it is time yet, then have patience. :)

My Spirit Guide is a Dolphin.

It came to me in a very distinct dream. It just looked at me and I knew it was it.

Strangely enough whenever it contacts me, it comes in the same way, same dream. So I know its there, watching and guiding me. Protecting me as well.

I have several.
One is an old man, grumpy as hell, who is forever telling me off but he's really a softie at heart ;) Another is Gabriel, a young man who works with me through meditation and visualization. A female woman, older than myself, constantly stays with me when I'm having a severe depressive episode.
There are more spirits, including animals.

I have met one in a dream, he is a native american man, he claims to be like my great-great-great-great grandfather. He will not tell me his name. He has protected me in several situations and has given me some great advice.

I have one who is a prankster, she likes to move things around. She is an 8 year old girl. I spoke with her through dowsing rods. She is there to help remind me that I need to relax and have fun.

There is one more who will not show himself to me. But I know it is a young man.

I tried to find out if I had spirit guides and if so, who they were, but wasn't successful. Finally, I quit trying and didn't worry about it any more. Then one sleepless night I got out of bed and decided that meditation might help encourage sleep. My eyes were closed, but all of a sudden I could clearly "see" the room around me. Then my focus shifted to the front porch and I saw two women dressed in kind of old fashioned clothing. The older one, whom I recognized as my great-grandmother, smiled and then stepped back, and the younger woman knocked on the front door. When I said "come in", she walked through the door without opening it and introduced herself to me. And then she told me what my discordian name and title should be and said she thought she'd stick around if it was okay with me. It was more than okay and she's still here.

Mine is a tiger. It was actualy brought to me in a dream by my twin brother who died before we were born. I guess you could say I have two. I was sitting beside a small stream when they walked up. Nothing was said but the tiger sat down beside me and my brother walked away. I have always adored tigers and held a respect for them that I never could understand untill that night.

I first met a figure like this in a dream when I was maybe 12. He looked like the shaven-headed character David Carradine played in the old TV series, Kung Fu - except he was more "jokey," so he reminded me more of Mr. Clean. He was a benefactor and protected me from some bullies.

Years later, after I had been practicing yoga meditation for a few years, I had a vision just before I started to fall asleep one night. In it, I heard a voice (male, female?) that told me, from within a fog, that the light in my life had not yet risen... but during the vision, a sun started burning though the fog (so I took it as a very positive portent of the next phases lof my life).

Then, years later again, I had a dream in which I was in a room and a female head and face was floating through the air, with a sort of energy stream like a polywog's tale out the back anbd waving behind it (sounds weird, but it was actually sublime, beautiful, and comforting). The face didn't say anything, but was friendly and benevolent. I want out back of the room, and there was an advanced yogi doing practices (meditation, etc). During the day, after I woke up, I had my first conscious experience of having healing energy coming out of my hands.

Some years later, I got attuned into Reiki, and began to meet many others for whom Reiki is their path or a major portion of their path. One of them did an "Animal Cards" reading for me and, among other things, told me my totemic animal is the mountain lion - which was interesting, because in my life I've seen four wild mountain lions (or "cougars" as we call them)... and these animals are supremely good at hiding, and are rarely seen. Of course, this animal aspect is now confusing because two other people have confidently told me my totemic animal or animal-spirit is the bear, and I've seen more bears (I live in the mountains of Canada) than I can possibly count!

Enough for now...

One of my spirit guides came to me in a dream about the year 2002-2003, she was a red dragon. She stayed with me for a while, in the meantime I met a dragon radicalist named Tambrath who believed he was a dragon in a past life and tried to control -my- life as his "adopted daughter." I was happy because I'd never had that father figure in my life, but once he started to control me and lie to my friends I called it quits. During the time I was with him I was exploring my "dragon side" and everyone believed that I was too one in a past life, so I started to pretend to be her. She didn't like that and bit me in my dreams. Then she left me. Her lesson was to be myself, instead of what others think I should be. Atleast that's what I took from the experience.. Recently I saw her face in the sky yesterday and had a few signs, it was very cool. I think she might be back.

Also, not too long ago, I was meditating and the image of an old woman with poofy white hair appeared. I had this feeling she was my spirit guide. I haven't had any other contact with her since.

Oh, my Goddess, yes.

He has been a continual presence in my life for low these last 50 years (approx.)

I don't know what he wants but he is pretty much always there.

His name is David.

When he wants to be paid attention to, I have something like a little split second seizure and I hear myself say his name out loud.

It was so many years ago and I was so young that I don't exactly recall how I first knew he was there. But, I think it was while I was walking home from school probably 7th grade.

He looks a little Native American. But, not like the cowboys and Indians in movies. He looks more like a sun scorched dirt farmer and it seems like he had an old pick-up truck around the time when the very first pick-up trucks had been around long enough to be thought old. Late 1930's maybe.

Yeah. Trying. I got MINE, and he's a pain in the ass. He keeps me up at night, bellowing about the future of American football and about not putting oil in the pasta water.

I had an owl "speak" to me about 11 years ago, I was living in a small town and I've always loved owls and decorated my home with them. One evening in the autumn I heard one in my backyard calling. I put on my coat and went outside and called back to him. He moved a little ways down the street to another tree and called again. I called back. He moved a little further away and called again. I really felt like I had made a connection with Owl Spirit.

Five years ago my daughter and I had been to a meeting on a stormy spring night, typical Kansas weather with tornado warnings and a few small funnels had even touched down. As we were driving home, suddenly my headlights picked out a shape on the road ahead of the van and a great winged shape slowly rose up into the air and flew off to the northwest. I looked at my daughter and said, "Hmmm, I think that was warning of some kind." We were both super aware for the next week, and exactly one week later almost to the exact minute a huge F4 tornado took out everything northwest of the house where my daughter (and her hubby and their daughter) were living. Because she was being really aware she and her family got into the basement before the tornado hit. It twisted the house over their heads and cracked the foundation and the walls and pulled part of the porch off, blew down the garage in the back yard, and completely demolished about 1/3 of the town and damaged another 1/3. We both said "Thank you!" to brother Owl.

When I took the Reiki class and got my Level One attunements the spirit of a small Asian man was present and he spoke to me telling me I was doing a good thing. He has been present almost every time I've done Reiki on someone else (other than me).

And of course the spirit of my ex visited me on several occasions since he died suddenly of a heart attack 2 years ago. But I told him to bugger off and haven't noticed him around recently.

I met mine in a dream once. She's a very tall blonde woman, but I never got her name and I haven't figured out how to contact her. I'm content knowing she's there for me when I need her. :)

Has anyone ever made contact with their spirit guide?

Hmmm... I wonder what you would consider "making contact with"...

I was talking with a friend earlier about my Spirit Guides... The first one I had even before I knew what a Spirit Guide was and I never "had words" so to speak. Communication usually came by way of a Clue by 4 upside my head...

And my current guide and I communicate all the time. But it didn't start out that way. In my experience, each spirit guide is different. What do you know about your Spirit Guide? This is usually the best place to start. And then remember... they are here for you... but it is a two way street... you are also here for them. Be open to what they need of you... sometimes it is just companionship... other times, a message... and yet others may be a task...

Oh... And don't rush it. To all things there is a time and a season.

Hope this helps.

A good post, and you've made some interesting points. (Besides, I like yiour expression "Clue by 4 upside the head"... hadn't heard that one before.:hehehehe: Has a resonance for me, as I'm a sometimes-carpenter.)

But I'm curious about the 'two-way road' idea of relationship with guides. Care to share some examples from your own experience? I, for one, would love to hear a few stories...

I'm not sure where mine came from. They just sort of came to me in meditation and help me through talking in my head and sending me pictures when i need help. I think they were always there in some form, but now its more visual and vocal in me for some reason .

... taught me pretty much everything I know. I'm not divulging any names, but my frequent advice to anyone on a spiritual path is to stop reading books as soon as possible and start turning to them for teachings and lessons instead.

The funny thing is when they tell me something and then within 24 hours I hear the same words from someone else. As if it is a confirmation or something. Sometimes I can just flick open a book and find their teachings on a random page. I'm a kinda a sceptical person anyway and it's good to get the messages backed up like that.

I had two and now just one. Both are fox spirits who were actually humans at one point. One's name was Asner, he left for one reason...but I'd rather not get into that and his sister Serenity is with me. Asner and Serenity are both Japanese and French. Asner died at 20 of a shooting and Serenity died at 18 after being raped and stabbed.

I love Serenity to death, I talk with her when times are rough and she gives me advice when I can't simply do anything. Asner on the other hand, I adore that boy....more than I should and he had to leave for like I said reasons I'd prefer to not share, although Serenity said he's not gone just...not with us for the time being as a spirit *shrugs*

I have about three that I know of. I've always been aware of one of them, because he used to be there for me when I was a little girl and stayed with me while I was growing up. The other two arrived in my teenage years in order to help me out in rough times. Not really sure what to say about them other than I totally love them all to pieces, lol.

My spiritual guides are mostly the gods I pray to/worship and some animal/totem spirits..
