I've been searching around a bit in this forum, and I cannot find anything that explains this (even though I bet there's a six page long thread somewhere that does explain this and I just didn't go back far enough. XD).

What does each house in an astrological chart stand for? And what implications does each house have on a person's personality?

The houses also correspond to the signs of the zodiac in that the 1st house can be seen as the house-personification of aries, the 2nd house taurus and so forth. They are sort of the where in a natal chart, where a focus is, where things occur, etc.
