I can have this moved wherever you want, if you feel it's more appropriate. I wasn’t sure if it’s more appropriate here or in Ceremonial Paths, but hopefully there will be some ceremonialists who might weigh in here? In any case, it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had dreams involving the LBRP, Qabalistic cross, exorcisms, or some such… And what did YOU think it meant?

So, a couple months ago, my father (who's in the OTO, but he hasn’t really been active in several years) had this dream of being in his parents' house, with me, and there was some kind of troubling demon in their basement. So he drew a triangle on the floor, and we started to do an exorcism together, but then realized he hadn't started correctly and so started to do the Qabalistic cross. My mother (in waking life), heard my dad speaking in "a strange language", and woke him. He repeated the Qabalistic cross for her and she said it sounded like what he said in his sleep before.

So then last night I had this dream: I had met this woman who said she had become a Wiccan because something wasn't right with her (nominally Christian) family. So I asked her to take me over to her family's (a couple sisters and mother's) house (it was more like a flat, really). I notice there's a depressed feel to the place, and it is absolutely run-down... it was almost bare, dirt and dust everywhere, peeling paper and water and smoke stains. The sisters and mother look very old and decrepit, though the woman looks like a normal 30-something. The family says that there's nothing wrong; it's just plainly decorated.

I said I thought it was more than that, and offered to do an exorcism of the place. The Wiccan woman heartily agreed, and her family just sort of said "whatever you wanna do." So I went in, and I remember in the bedroom there was something wrong (in an unnatural way) with an appliance (I think it was a fan)... Just as a kind of precaution, I start to do the Qabalistic cross, and I feel something really... heavy and resistant... coming from the closet. So I get in the middle of the room and I start doing the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. My throat is becoming drier and drier and by the time I was intoning "Gabriel", I've become awake.

It was 5:15am (15 minutes before my alarm would go off), and I could hear my mom downstairs doing yoga. (Of course, as I do with all somewhat frightening dreams, I went through the imaginative process of completing the dream; in this case, completing the exorcism and ridding the family of the demon. I don't even really know what an exorcism ritual is supposed to be, so I kind of winged it, as I imagine I would have in the dream if I'd stayed asleep...)

Now, I've been doing the LBRP every night before going to bed (for several months now, even before my dad's dream) for two reasons. One, it makes me feel safer, somewhat, and Two, because I like to have SOME kind of ritual practice everyday to sort of keep myself on top of things.

I mean, it is true that that Emily Rose movie just came out, but nothing in my dream was like the movie except for the fact that an exorcism was involved. Though it's certainly possible that the movie influenced my subconscious or something.... ^_^ (And I don’t know if I have bad dreams after scary movies, because most all of my dreams involve me being chased or attacked or something… )

It's just very interesting, and I thought I'd share. I have no idea what it means, if it means anything… What do you think dreaming of exorcisms mean? I think there’s probably some difference between dreaming of exorcisms being done on you or others and dreaming of performing the exorcism, but these were some interpretations I found: Exorcism: to dream that you or others are being exorcised, symbolizes your initiative to regain control and take steps toward the direction of your goals. Alternatively, you may not be taking responsibility for your actions and are looking for a scapegoat.
EXORCISM: urgent need to kill bad memories off
EXORCIST: a sense of real evillol, though when I told my dad about it this morning, he said maybe it’s a sign that we should open up an exorcism business. ^_^

I think this might have something more to do with how you view the mainstream society. You might be able to see their ills. Your dad as well. Perhaps you two should think about healing instead of exorcism.
