for the past couple of months i've lost my creativity & desire to be in anyway artistic. I really want to overcome this... I've tried drawing things, but have been unhappy w/ what little i've drawan and havn't felt inspired to draw anything...i also haven't been able to think of much to draw (when i do it turns out badly). I want to do a ritual to change all of this...but i'm not sure what to do... So i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions... either mundane or magickal (oh, i've also tried looking at different artists online and different images...but that hasn't helped me either :( )

I like to draw as well but I have to be in the mood, or I guess I should say the right frame of mind, but heres a little spell that may help
Use either acorns or a twig of oak or visulize one to assist with this spell
present them or visualize and say
Sturdy Oaks from acorns grow holy spirit let me know roots run deep and flowering leaves I create what I will
by fire, air water and earth I design I give birth this tree is me and I the tree let angels guide what it will be

You're in a good time of year to look towards the goddess Bríd (a.k.a Brighid) - try praying to her and see if she will aid you. Seldom fails me. :)

Don't be so concerned about the outcome of your art, like whether it's good or bad or makes you happy. Just stop thinking and let whatever is in there come out. You might not be happy with your current work because you may be changing directions or styles and you don't know it yet. Just stop thinking and let it flow. Maybe try mediums that you haven't worked with yet. Experiment. But thinking about creativity probably won't do much to get it going again.

My primary arts are music and writing and I do techniques like this all the time. I'll just pick up a guitar and make noise. Eventually, music comes out. It's the same with writing. I'll just come up with a story idea and write it, no idea what it is from senctence to senctence. Usually, this produces crap, but it almost always opens up ideas that eventually go somewhere. I haven't painted or drawn in a long time, but those methods used to work for me in those areas, too.

I have no spell ideas for changing this situation, sorry. Just advice based on personal experience. But since magic relies so much on creativity, people should come up with plenty of ideas, like the ones already mentioned. I hope it all works out for you.

Oooh! The place where art and magic meet is one of my favorite places to hang out!

Magic begets magic; art begets art; so magical art can reverberate all over the Multiverse for, you know...ever.

I second semicivilizedman's advice, but with a twist: "let it flow" magically. Instead of searching for a spell to bring back your art, let art be your spell. Do whatever it is you do to acknowledge sacred space, and then spend some time playing around with form, with color, with words, with sound - whatever strikes your fancy. Take some of its boundless creative energy into yourself to fire you up in the future, and return everything else as an offering to the forces of inspiration and creativity, whatever names you call them by. That way, the energy of joy that you generate from creating art is sure to be there to come back to you the next time you need it, like a fountain that cycles around and around.

thanks for your suggestions everyone :) I know there's stuff in there...lots of it...just wanting to get out...i can almost see it, can't quite reach it...i don't know how to get it out...like something blocking it...myself probably -_-;; my markers and paper are scattered on the floor, along w/ a few half finished drawings... i've been listening to circle of souls radio all afternoon in hopes it will give me some inspiration. i just want to draw NOW.

I HATE ART BLOCK!! DIE ART BLOCK DIE!! :uzi:
